Dusty Baker has butchered the lineup yet again tonight, and has put in Hollandsworthless, and Gerut, both guys not proving to have any offense. I woulden't mind so much if he used Gerut in LF, but please don't sub in for Hairston Jr.

This is why the Cubs need a trade for Pierre. Pierre solidifys the top of the lineup. What happens after Aram and Burnitz I really don't care about.

We don't need another low .300/no power OF, especially not one to go in the top of the order

Well, see, that's a Dusty Baker opinion if you ask me. Pierre is a veteran presence now, sure, with some sort of track record, but his numbers this year at the top of the lineup are garbage. We are much better off with Hairston in that position, if you ask me. I would just like to see him be a bit more of a speed threat.

Gerut has proven not to have any offense in the past year or so. Hes just solid defensively. I knew Dusty would jump at the chance to dropping Hairston. What a slimeball.

Earlier today, a Reds fan posted a rumor about the Cubs trading Hill, CPatt and Mitre to the Reds for Adam Dunn in Transactions. Right after Wood was taken out of the game with what we now know is shoulder stiffness, Bruce Miles entered a post denying any such trade was in the works. I wonder if the timing of that denial had anything to do with Wood getting injured. Hill would certainly be the first guy I would think to replace Wood...

I don't think he was a Reds fan(although it's certainly possible I missed it), and it was last night. I would think that Mitre would get the rotation nod before Hill, but nothing would surpirse me at this point.

If Wood misses any starts I sincerely hope that they give them to Rusch (not Mitre).

One more hit and 1 less pitch and there is an interesting pitching box up and down

For someone going by OldHappyCubFan you don't seem too happy. :P

Meanwhile, while we debate wins as a pitching metric and whether or not Wood is a weenie, Lee and Burnitz hit back to back HR's to lead off the 7th. 6-2 Reds.

Pardon my stupidity, but how does someone win $10,000?

The MLB fantasy game where you pick a different player that you think will hit a HR every night. If you break the ML record of 8 in a row, then you win 10K. Someone had 8 in a row with Lee going tonight, and two other people were at 8 with Teixeira tonight.

Why are Cub fans so obsessive over "power." This team has plenty of power hitters, and not enough OBP or slap happy hitters. Pierre brings exactly to the table what this team needs.

Hes having an off-year, which is very unlike a Juan Pierre kind of year. The guy is simply one of the BEST leadoff hitters in all of baseball. If you take away the slow start hes had this season, he'd be imo the best leadoff hitter in baseball the past 3 years.

Granted hes been playing well the past 10 games or so, and I forget the stat, but I believe hes been batting .300 in that time frame. The guy is WAY better then an unknown unproven guy like Hairston.

Home runs don't win championships. Solid batting, and moving the runners over increase the chances of scoring. This team had 3 runners on third base last night, with one out, and coulden't even drive them home on a sac.

Thats what I call losing baseball.

Oh. Thanks.

And the hits keep coming!

Slimeball? You're going over the line.

Seriously you're going over the line. What's wrong with giving him a day off during this long stretch of games without a day off in the heat and humidity. I also like how you won't acknowledge that Hairston has been struggling since Corey was sent down.
