He's still suffering the effects of the concussion, evidently.

Grieve was the only rostered OF eligible to come up.

The 15 day DL is the place to put him. Head injuries are scary things. I've had 4 concussions...stupid kid stuff. Anyway, you can be fine one day and heave your guts up the next with blurry vision and balance problems. I hope he's ok. :(

Could someone change the title of the thread?

You can, actually. just go to "edit" in the corner of your post. It will allow you to edit the title also.

I like the kid Greenberg, but Grieve could actually be more valuable. We knew Greenberg wasn't going to get too many opportunites to play. Grieve makes a very good option for a LH pinch hitter. Grieve also will take a walk.

Welcome back, Ben.

All it took was an Enrique Wilson experiment and a kid getting drilled in the head to get Grieve back up here. Better late than never I guess.

Patterson sent down.

Pie hurt

Greenberg hurt

Dwayne Bacon hurt

What's with Cubs' CF this year?

Shh! Don't jinx us, Fuld and Walker have been healthy so far...hopefully they don't go down too.

Hopefully this does not turn him into the next Moonlight Graham.

Although, ending up a successful doctor isn't so bad. Most injured never-were's end up far worse.

Yes! We've got the world series locked up - Grieve is back! You know, the guy no one else wanted.

No one else wanted Glendon Rusch.

No one else wanted Joe Borowski in '03.

I just really hate that line of reasoning, that because 29 idiots passed on somebody that he's worthless.

Very good points. Ben Grieve could easily find a niche as an outstanding pinch hitter if he accepts the role. He has all the attributes: He can't play defense, he's slower than molasses, but he can get on base and he has some power. There's no reason that he can't be extremely valuable off the bench, a la Dave Hansen circa 2001 or Mark Sweeney now.

I agree. Macias is good at getting the bat on the ball, making contact. Cedeno gives good D and is player development. Grieve can fill a power/obp role if he can succeed and accept his role.

Could just be for a few weeks tho, depending on who we get in trades.
