Pudge is already playing for Puerto Rico. How about Luis Gonzalez and other hispanics who are listed as Americans?

I think they should look at your citizenship card and play you accordingly.

ps I think A-Rod just wants to be on a winning team for once.

A-Rod did look at his citizenship card. It has two countries on it as he has dual citizenship, USA & DR.

The United States doesn't recognize dual citizenship, I'm fairly sure. The DR may recognize his U.S. citizenship, but the U.S. doesn't recognize his DR citizenship.

Those crazy Maltese with their complicated laws...

Actually that is not true. The U.S. does recognize dual citizenship. The only time is does not is when trying to obtain a security clearance which I'm sure A-Rod has not interest in obtaining.

Even without Arod, the Dominican team is going to dominate this thing. Their infield alone could possibly be Pujols, Soriano, Tejada, Ramirez/Arod.

Throw Manny out there in LF as well. Isn't Pedro Domincan too?

Neifi is Domincan.

A-Rod can play for the DR. Lets just make A-Ram a U.S. citizen and get him on the U.S. team.

The American infeild could be Rolen(or A-Ram if we get on it), Garciapara\Jeter, Kent, and Lee. Thats a great infeild. Our starting pitching staff would be Prior, Wood, Clemens(if he hasn't retired), Sheets, Schilling.

I don't think the Dominican would dominate.

By the way, Puerto Rico isn't technically a country so why do they have their own team?

Yes, Pedro is Dominican. They'd give the US a run for their money for sure.

I say let him play for whoever he wants. Its his choice and if the people of the DR accept him, why not?

Considering the relative sizes of the US and the Domincan the amount of talent coming out of that small country right now is amazing.

So Arod was born in the USA, raised in the USA, learned to play baseball in the USA, has gotten a fortune from playing baseball in the USA, but wants to represent a different country? Just more reason to hate the yankees.

For pitching I would want Halladay over Wood and Sheets.

Halladay, Schilling, Prior, Clemens, Oswalt....

On offense Bonds, Helton/Lee, Young/Kent/Roberts, Jeter, Nomar, Rolen, Teixura, Blalock, Edmonds, Damon, Andruw Jones....

it will be far from a given for the dominicans.

As far as starting pitching goes, I wouldn't be so quick to trust Schilling next year during the spring when this is going to be played. Instead of Schilling, I would think about Willis or Buerhle (to get a lefty in there), based upon how quick they were pitching well this year.

When I talk about Schilling, I mean not trusting his health - no doubt he's a great big game pitcher.

Edmonds

I think he's a Canadian.

Andruw Jones

Isn't he from Curacao?

I think you have Edmonds (California) confused with Larry Walker (Candian).

ARod situation, very much like Brett Hull in hockey. Brett was born in Canada (I beileve his mom was American), he chose to be an American citizen, I believe because of his "distrust" of his father. So if Alex Rodriuez has DOMINICAN REPUBLICANS parents, he doesn't have to live in the DR to take up DR as his citizenship. So if he wants to play for the DR, that is his decision.

This is BA.com PROJECTED team USA roster, MO are in bold:

C—Jason Varitek (Red Sox)

1B—Derrek Lee

2B—Brian Roberts (Team USA needs a LO hitter)

3B—Scott Rolen (Cardinals)

SS—Derek Jeter

LF—Lance Berkman (Astros)

CF—Jim Edmonds (Cardinals)

RF—Gary Sheffield (Yankees)

DH— Mark Teixeria (I want someone to actually wans to be there)

SP—Roger Clemens (Astros)

SP—Mark Prior (Cubs)

SP—Ben Sheets (Brewers)

SP—Mark Buehrle (Buehrle is better the Mulder)

RP—Billy Wagner (Phillies) (or if Smoltz is willing to close)

Manager: Bobby Cox (Braves) No way do I want Cox leading Team USA, cause we ALL KNOW he can't win the big games. So I choose Joe Torre or Mike Sciossoa (sp?)

I think ARod should renounce his DR citizenship, dye his hair red, change his name to Alex Roddy and beat his children when they try to speak spanish. He should also stop talking to his relatives in the DR too - Alex is an American and he should forget about all that useless history. They don't even live in America - what good are they! Sorry grandma!

And he should play for the US, cuz he's as Dominican as I am Chicagoan... oh wait, I am from Chicago.

I'm pretty sure Pudge was born in Puerto Rico.

BTW, if ARod can play for the DR, I'm pretty sure Pujols could play for the U.S. He was born in the DR but I believe he grew up in the States. I know he played juco ball here.

Isn't he from Curacao?

Yep, which makes him eligible to play for the Netherlands.
