I'm going to Chicago to find a black Acura. LOL. J/K.

Before anyone asks, no I did not read it that fast. I already read it before he posted the link to it.

OK. I know I didn't need to type that because no one cares. I'm tired. So before anyone else says anything about it, please shut up. :P

Yeah, I feel terrible for him as well. it was just a bad situation, and obviously not his fault.

When the Cubs win the World Series (whenever that will actually be), I hope he's right in the middle of the celebrations down here in Wrigleyville. He can come to my apartment and we'll drink Old Style and celebrate.

i remember seeing a replay of that about a month afterwards and there was a boy not too far away, couldnt have been older than 10, also reaching for the ball. i just wonder what wouldve happened had he been the unlucky soul on that infamous day.

I wonder how things would have been different if Alou didnt have a reaction like he was PMSing...

can you imagine that one of the most important moments in the franchise's history could of been 180 degree different had the foul ball not been hit to that particular area

or prior had struck the batter out, or anything else not leading to that outcome

fate sucks

I'll take 'Beating a Dead Horse' for $1,000, Alex.

I'll take 'Jap-Anus Relations' for $200.

Sorry, I just can't get Celebrity Jeopardy on SNL with Will Ferrell out of my head.

That's Japan-U.S. relations Connery.

I hope all the idiotic Cubs fans who still blame him read this and ponder their misdirected and pointless anger at this poor guy.

Sorry to name call, but the treatment of this guy still gets under my skin.

Hasn't the man been through enough? Apparently not, you are going to make him drink bad beer!!!

I don't plan on doing anything to him - ever - but that doesn't change the fact that what he did was stupid.

Bartman needs peace, sure, but some of us wouldn't have reacted like he did. It bothers me when people pretend otherwise.

It's a great article, but I wish the reporter would have left him alone. Bartman's been through enough.

From the article:

"Just for the record," he begins, "I wouldn't recommend that you do this again, especially on [company] property, because it's just not a good impression if you want me to do something with you."

Take that you slimeball reporter!!

""Steve," I tell him, "I've got one thing before I leave. Regardless of what I do for a living, regardless of the way this all might seem to you, I want to apologize. I want to genuinely apologize, on behalf of all Cub fans, for all the crap you've had to deal with."

Don't apologize for me you A-hole!!! I don't put blame in the guy for his actions. You want to apolgize for anyone, apologize for non-Cub fans and the constant media hounding immediately after and ever since Game 6. Most Cub fans I know think the guy did what most everyone else would do and/or cut the guy slack for his unintentional actions. It's NON-Cub fans and the media who are the problem!!!

"Sure, there's the occasional reporter who jumps out of a parked car or the SportsCenter anchor who references the infamous fan, but he's moved on. "

Maybe everyone else should do the same!

PS - Doesn't the reporter's actions hinge on 'stalking'?

Not necessarily. It depends on how Illinois state law defines stalking. If it is anything like that of Louisiana state law it would have to be the intentional and repeated following or harrassing of another person causing a reasonable person to feel alarmed or to suffer emotional distress.

We just dealt with this exact question in the Louisiana State Legislature this past session.

man I feel for Bartman. Gonzo on the other hand. Would be fun to a couple beers with Steve.

Gonzo got so lucky that Bartman was there to take the fall. Speaking of which, I've always wondered...

Do you like Gonzalez has his checks directly deposited into Bartman's account, or do you think he has to sign over each check individually?

What I found most interesting about the article was that, as I was reading it, I hated the writer for bothering Bartman. I thought it was borderline stalking too. But when he actually found Bartman, I thought it was classy that the writer just decided to let him go. I found it classy actually that when the confrontation came, it was merely about the Cubs win against Boston and his condolences, not that infamous night.

Speaking of Gonzo and Bartman, Bill Buckner is slated as an upcoming singer for the 7th inning stretch. I'm sure he can relate to being made the scapegoat. It will be interesting to hear what he has to say.

I think it went that way more because of Bartman's actions than the slimeball asking him questions.

Cubs' record with me in attendance:

Home: 8-0

I think we should all pitch in to get this guy tickets to all the Cubs remaining home games :P .

I guess you're right. My point was only that at least the writer eventually relented and didn't press the point further. And, being someone who began college studying journalism (thank God that phase of my life is over with), it surprised me that he "gave up" at the point of no return. That's all. Classy was probably a bad word. But Bartman's gone through enough. True Cubs fans know that.
