They’ve won 18 of the last 24 on the road with a +58 run differential, they absolutely are playing better on the road lately. They’re only 10-8 at wrigley in that same stretch.

Not to worry, the Cubs have been shut out by the Yankees in the last 3 series openers.

2 runs in the first 9 innings of their last 3 games since round 2 of 27-12. I’ll go with coincidence for now.

I don’t think we have to brush this off as coincidence. I think it is just the way baseball is. Maybe they aren’t hitting now, for some reason. This could be just a short stretch of not hitting. Baseball is just wierd. Teams don’t consistently score 5 runs a game all season. There is an ebb and flow to the season. I don’t think it is wrong to say the Cubs MIGHT be trending down a bit. Where people go overboard when things start going bad offensively and all of a sudden guys pick a 10 game stretch to suggest the offense sucks.
Two things can be true. Cubs could have a very good offense AND Cubs can be struggling now. Let’s hope this doesn’t last much longer.

Sure. Their 6.4 rpg average during their latest 27-12 stretch was no more sustainable than their 6.2 runs/game stretch during their previous 27-12 stretch. They followed it with a 16 game stretch of scoring 40 total runs. So which follows, another 16 game stretch with some stabilization to their current 110 game scoring rate, averaging a more modest 5.2 runs/game? Maybe a slight drop off to 4.5? A total faceplant? 
 

Their batted ball luck is due for regression so it’s not terribly surprising that they’ve had a rough few games. 
 

PCA will be the key. He’s carried this lineup for 2 months. So if he can sustain his 150 wRC+ then we won’t see anywhere near the same degree of regression.

That’s just it. We don’t know. Just a few weeks ago people were touting the Phillies as this team to fear. Now they can’t win a game and have fallen behind the diamondbacks. Baseball is a fickle sport that is maddening to try to understand or predict. All we can do is hope the Cubs start hitting and winning any.

Imanaga tipping pitches again...

In the 5th inning JD was talking about the Yankees RH hitters were quickly looking over at 1st base coach and it seems they caught on late something Imanaga was doing to tip pitches,  seems like it was his glove location.

Flat was fastball,  pointed up was offspeed

Has anyone said why the catcher is holding his glove up high like that for Shota?

Shota had 19 whiffs on the day, including six against the fastball. 

If he was tipping, the Yankees didn't do a good job if all they did was hit two solo home runs and swing and miss a ton.

I heard it was to to provide a visual cue for his high-riding four-seam fastball and to change eye levels

It was around the 5th inning JD picked it up and was talking about it. They were talking about Rosario AB when he homered, he kept glancing over that way. Then they noticed another RHer doing the same thing.
