Obviously he needs to progress to the point he can sneak the occasional ball over the wall but man he's way improved YoY.  BB/K is over 1, he's playing shortstop now, the power is now "bad" as opposed to "pathetic."  And he's still just 20.

We're roughly a quarter of the through the season and he's still on a 55 homer pace and yet a lot of people are *desperate* to get rid of him

I still think he'd get eaten alive with consistent MLB ABs against RHP. With the contact issues and no more options after this year, I also doubt his trade value is all that high anyway so I'm penciling him in as a useful 4th outfielder next season.

You know with all the talk around trading surplus young bats for starting pitching feels like there's a scenario where Amaya makes sense to be moved?

Carson Kelly is really good, and even as age catches up with him you'd expect him to still play strong D and hit lefties.  Heading into next season with Kelly/Mo/3rd catcher at the MLB level and Ayers/Armas at Iowa I'd feel fantastic about the catcher position for both the short and long term.

Just saw where the Cubs released Haydn McGreary from Double-A Knoxville Smokies.

Jordan Nwogu maybe a player that they could consider moving up to Iowa. Vince Reilly got up to 98 MPH today in Knoxville. 24 K's in 18 innings for him so far, just 7 walks. He has an opponent Avg. of .183 and a WHIP of 1. He could very well be in Iowa not too long from now.

In the offseason I think Amaya could be dealt. At the deadline I'd be pretty surprised. Jed would have to bring in a vet catcher and he doesn't really like messing with the pitcher/catcher relationship mid-season.

For sure, he'd definitely have to be an offseason move.  I'd want to have Kelly locked down and also Ayers in a position where he's a phonecall away (or pretty close).

How did Wicks look. I see he went 4 scoreless but he walked 4. To me, that is the next possible solution to the staff. It is important for him to be decent.
