My goodness this guy is good.

But did they really give him a triple on the last one? I'd be surprised if that wasn't changed to a double and E8. It looked like it was clearly bobbled at the wall.

Derrek Lee! Home runs to match his shirt number. Barrett's moved on from that statistic and we await Macias' arriving there.

as much as i hate to say it, but I bet corey is as good as gone :(

I agree. My guess is Hendry is looking to use Corey as the currency to upgrade the team. He's likely shopping for a left and center fielder.

This should at the very least be a one run ballgame. To not score a runner last inning is flat-out unacceptable. The Nats have gotten guys in from second with 2 outs; the Cubs couldn't get a guy in from third with one out.

League average 1st and 3rd one out = 1.86 runs

I'm hoping there's more to root for this year than DLee homeruns - I've had enough of those seasons in the past...

Triple S:

Sammy

Sosa

Fans, don't let great players' seasons overshadow bad teams' records.

Cheer for winning.

Nats: 6 baserunners, 4 runs

Cubs: 10 baserunners, 2 runs

One team has been very good at scoring when it's gotten the chance, one team has been bad at it. Not hard to see that's the difference in the ballgame.

(OK going out for real now - good game by Jerome, just gave up some hits at the wrong times)

Strike 1 inside, strike 3 outside. It's hard to understand why the umps seemingly single out Patterson (mostly inside corner) and Lee (low strikes) to give the worst strike zones to on this team.

The most frustrating thing about this game (this team) is how much better it could be by just putting out a better batting order. Lee has lead of the inning in all of his at bats (except the first inning obviuosly) :x

How sad would it to be to have the cycle with 1 RBI (himself)

Hey Baker and Hendry, total nitwits, you keep batting c-patt and Neifi 1-2 in your order and you're not even going to come close to the playoffs. Can you comprehend this? Or are you beyond help at this stage?

Baker has to go and go NOW!!! He is so bad it's not even funny.

All the offense comes from one man and you don't even build the lineup around him. I despise Dusty Baker. I've had enough of him.

Corey with 3 more strike outs today... will our idiotic manager get him out of the lineup after today? We wont contend with him.

Because one is 5'7" and the other 6'6"? It's their fault they're not 6'!

Oh we can more than contend with Patterson. But Dusty right now is not putting Patterson in a position to even succeed. Dusty should sit him for a few games. Let him catch his breath. And then exclusivly bat him in the 7th hole. Don't put the pressure of leading off on him and don't try to turn him into something he is not.
