  1. Burnie Brewer just fermented that pitch! SOMEONE HAS AWAKENED A SLEEPING OFFENSE.
  2. Sorry, brb. I believe my "Bout Friggin Time" Alarm just went off. Gotta go turn it off and reset it.
  3. ANyone else pissed that GameCast on ESPN.com stalled as bad as the Cubs Offense? I'm trying to keep score, I bail out for the Rockies 2nd, come back and the GameCast of ESPN.com and yahoo incidentally haven't updated since the first bad CPatt at-bat. Maybe they gave up on this game just like the Cubs have?
  4. WHY? Chicago Cubs staff circa 20-03. They dominate for the most part well into the Playoffs, only to FRIGGING DIE in the NLCS of what seems of exhaustion and overuse. Remember: NO ONE wants to be like the Cubs. THAT'S WHY.
  5. Don't worry, Southern Cub fans. Fans in Detroit Tiger country are getting screwed out of the Cubs telecast as well.
  6. WOW...that's a forgettable Cub right there! That name brings me back to horrible Cubs teams of years gone by... This is so weird. I was just thinking about wherethis guy might be the other day. I see our former "future lefty starter" is now reduced to A-ball...ouch. This guy was on a couple Major League rosters in recent years and CONTRIBUTING. What happened? Did he get hurt? I love MiLB! I'm wearing my Montgomery Biscuits cap right now!
  7. I too read about pitch counts which did sorta quell my skepticism. But if it's supposed to be the new and improved Baseball Olympic Games, you know guys are going to maybe throw that extra inning or run down that fly ball a little harder, risking injuries and physical fatigue even before the season starts. But if they do strictly enforce a pitch count and we send a few actual Major League coaches and trainers to keep guys healthy and mechanically sound, I think we won't hear of more than one or two problems from the Classic.
  8. "Where we movin' to, Thunder?" You can't tell me that general baseball talk that happens to be about another team's minor leaguer AND A FORMER MAJOR LEAGUE CUB belongs in another section. EDIT: Ah, heck. What can y'do? Alright, so this is Minor League Discussion now.
  9. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/news/article.jsp?ymd=20050704&content_id=14191&vkey=news_milb&fext=.jsp " Pacific Coast League Juan Cruz, Sacramento 2 G, 2 GS, 0 CG, 0 SHO, 1-0, 0.73 ERA, 12.1 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 4 BB, 21 SO, 0 SV The A's brass said they sent Juan Cruz to Triple-A to get his confidence back, and if his last two starts are any indication, the demotion did the trick. Cruz, who has spent the majority of the past five seasons in the Majors, was optioned to Sacramento on June 17 after seeing his ERA balloon to 8.49 in 21 games with Oakland. He's gone progressively deeper in each of his three starts, including two dominant performances last week, in which the 26-year-old Dominican struck out 21 batters in just 12 1/3 innings. Cruz fanned 10 in 5 1/3 shutout innings against Portland on June 27, but the Beavers rallied for two runs in the top of the ninth to beat the River Cats, 2-1. On July 3, Cruz yielded just one earned run on three hits and a walk while striking out 11 in seven innings of a 5-2 win over Salt Lake. " Sounds like Cruz could be worse off.
  10. To quote Jose Canseco as Rick James: "Steroids is a hell of a drug"
  11. Watch Hee Seop hit 30 and become the player we THOUGHT we traded away two years ago...
  12. Remember all those Sosa vs. Abreu Cubs/Phils debates? Yeah, Abreu might not set real records in MLB history, but this display shows up Sosa.
  13. I don't know. Joe Borowski...oh wait, you mean pitchers HITTING homeruns. My bad...
  14. Triple S: Sammy Sosa Syndrome Fans, don't let great players' seasons overshadow bad teams' records. Cheer for winning.
