On Saturday, the Cubs try to even the series with the Nationals. Jerome Williamshttp://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/425532.jpg (1-2, 4.91 ERA; 1-0, 2.00 ERA as a Cub) takes the mound against Armas http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/150393.jpg(3-4, 5.44 ERA).

It's time for the Cubs to start some winning. Losing sucks and frankly I'm tired of the inconsistencies. Armas sucks. There's no reason we shouldn't light him up like the night sky on the 4th of July.

In Williams last start with the Cubs he showed flashes of the pitcher who went 7-5 with a 3.30 ERA in 2003. That's the pitcher we need.

We need Derrek Lee to keep showing everyone why he's the best hitter in the National League.

We need Corey Patterson to remember and start playing like a major leaguer and not a little leaguer.

We need Dusty to start Cedeno and not Neifi.

We need a healthy Ramirez.

We need a freaking win!

Let's go Cubs!

What an incredible experience it was watching the game yesterday from a skybox. Perfect view of the field, a TV set overhead (closer than my set is to me in my living room), all the food, beverages, and munchies you care to have. Only thing lacking from the total experience was about 1 clutch hit from the CUBS !! Could have been the perfect day.

Oh well, here are some worthless stats for Saturday........

CUBS are 5-5 on Saturdays

CUBS are 1-3 vs. Washington

CUBS are 13-11 in one run games, 8-4 in two run games.

CUBS are 1-0 when Williams starts

CUBS are 25-12 when they score first,.... 15-26 when they don't

CUBS are 12-5 when they score in the first inning,... 28-33 when they don't

CUBS are 22-21 in the day time.

CUBS are 21-18 at home.

CUBS are 31-10 when they get a quality start,... 9-28 when they don't

CUBS are 24-11 when they make at least 10 hits, 16-27 when they don't.

CUBS are 14-6 when they take 4 or more walks, 26-31 when they don't

CUBS are 32-24 when they strikeout 7 times or less, 8-14 when they k 8 or more times.

CUBS are 22-15 when they steal a base, 18-23 when they don't

Is there any chance in the world we could see:

Hairston, cf

Walker, 2b

Lee, 1b

Burnitz, rf

Ramirez, 3b

Hollandsworth, lf

Cedeno, ss

Barrett, c

Williams, p

Well someone on another website said the score is reporting that is the lineup for the game.

If so, =D> to Dusty for removing his head from another area of his body.

Under new leadership, yes. For the rest of 2005 I think that's highly doubtful.

Any predictions on how many times the #1 & #2 hitters get OB today. I'm going to say 4 times. Neifi 2, Corey 1, PH 1

Posted

I don't know how anyone can be shocked that Corey is leading off after he got 2 hits yesterday. That sort of performance upholds Dusty's thinking.

I'm really upset that Ronny hasn't gotten a start yet. And good to see Aramis back in the lineup.
