You are a horsefeathers idiot. There is no Dodgers issue. You are making it up. The salary cap is NOT about revenue sharing between the owners and players. The salary cap is about cost-cutting.

You can look at any of the other major sports that do it. It has 0 effect on competition. The other sports owners have agreed to partner with the players. That is not what the owners are doing here.

You can't even comprehend why owners can share revenue without the players, who get $0 in profits from the owners.

Anyway, I'm done responding to your asinine brain farts.

I generally agree with you, but I think the piece you're missing is that the owners want to decide what is and isn't included in revenue for the purposes of sharing and that will absolutely be a sticking point because that's the how of the cost cutting you're talking about.  The true opening of the books for a real accounting of ALL revenues is just never going to happen and why we likely don't see a salary cap, at least in this round of negotiations.  they may eventually get there, but I don't think it happens in this CBA.

Yes. they will not want to share anything that isn't specifically related to a game or NIL merch. They will want to exclude local broadcasting fees and all the stuff that really makes them money, b/c these are negotiated by market. They (the owners) are such a representative of whatever stage of capitalism we are in. They'd rather kill the sport than share one dime they don't think the players are owed.

If ever there was a season that shows that drafting and development is far more important than payroll this is it. Look at the division leader's payroll ranks

NL East- Braves 6TH

NL Central- Brewers 20th

NL West- Dodgers 2nd

AL East- Rays 23rd

AL Central- WSox 28th

AL West- Rangers 14th

Take it even further

MIA would be a WC team if the season ended today 29th

STL is one game out of the NL WC 26th

PIT is 2 out of the NL WC 24th

CLE is in the AL WC 30th

SEA is tied for the last spot of the AL WC 17th

MIN is tied for the last spot of the AL WC 22nd

What's the point of this? All the owners can get together and decide to share the wealth if they want to do that. They don't need the player's permission.

The point is they aren’t going to do it. I’m not arguing for a salary cap. Not at all. I am saying the owners wouldn’t find one they can all agree on anyway. The big money teams don’t want revenue sharing. The small market teams don’t want a high floor. As you have said, if they really wanted to do revenue sharing they could have done it already. I think the salary cap is a fake ask by the owners. They want no part of opening up the books to find a fair ceiling. The large revenue teams don’t want to revenue share and the small market teams don’t want a floor at 80% or 90% of the ceiling.
