Was Bob Brenly really just advocating replacing Patterson instead of Hollandsworth in a trade?

Good. Someone within the Cubs organization needs to step up and say it.

Patterson has been horrible this year but in no way is Todd Hollandsworth getting anywhere near the production that is needed out of a corner outfield spot.

I don't really care what position they play as far as their production is concerned. All I care about is winning games, and it's pretty clear that Todd is helping us to win games more than Corey is. Now, if we can upgrade in left, I'd love to do it, don't get me wrong. But at this point, I don't think the Cubs will contend with Patterson playing everyday.

well you are right and wrong. They need to upgrade, but they will contend because the pitchign is that good.

I disagree, I don't think our offense is good enough to support our great pitching. And that doesn't make me "wrong" either. That's my opinion.

ok calm down I was just saying in my opinios you were wrong. reguardless I think if Jim stands pat until the dealine we should just be sellers anyways. I think our pitchign will keep us close though even with this crap offense.

I don't know how you can look at today's lineup and type that with a straight face.

Well, that's one way to take it out of Welke's hands, Corey. Nice bunt.

First time he's gone down the first base line in a while.

They should start Prior on three days rest next Tuesday, then they can pitch him on the Sunday before the ASB. The best part is we skip Maddux. Edited by Lefty

Do you really want to come back with Prior on three days rest for his third outing coming back from an injury?

Oh I'm calm man, no worries there. I still don't think that a lineup that features our two worst hitters hitting in front of the best hitter in baseball will support our staff. It's going to take Dusty not being an idiot about his lineup, and an upgrade somewhere in the outfield for this team to compete.

82 pitches over 5 innings; yes. It doesn't mean I expect him to go 9 next time, either. Remember he'd be taking Maddux' spot; he only has to go 5 or 6 to equal Maddux. I'd rather have Prior pitch those innings.

If I were in charge I would handle my staff totally differently than anybody else. I don't expect Dusty "I need 12 pitchers even though I won't use some of them" Baker to do anything progressive, though.

Man, how could we be getting shut out with this kind of stellar lineup? Inconceiveable!

man how can a team that tells it fans to believe allow for this type of lineup to happen?

I just arrived. Someone please tell me how Macias 3B, Neifi SS is better than Neifi 3B, Cedeno SS?

Are we really asking that much of Baker to use common sense? Jesus, that man is infuriating.

(whispering in dusty's ear): Drink the Kool-Aid dude, everything will be alright. Only you know how baseball is really played, those fans don't know jack. Your lineups are brilliant, dude! Here, take another toke on this too, you deserve it, poor fella.
