"Caleb missed a wide open Swift 10 yards shy of the end zone with 3 defenders in front of him" isn't the hill to die on.

I really hope not.  what are we talking about with the 2 seed vs 3 seed?  The Packers will be well rested (resting their starters next week) and while we beat them, they just went an entire regulation where every single drive they had ended inside the Bears 10 yard line.  They are the easier draw for sure but as the 3 seed they might have a west coast warm weather team have to travel to Chicago to play.  Maybe not a huge advantage (we've seen SF take out a better GB team multiple times in recent years), but I would hope there is so advantage and maybe slows down their offenses a bit.  And then in the 2nd round you probably go to Philly, where the Bears have already won this year.

I'd much rather have the 2 seed but the 3 seed doesn't doom us or anything.  Losing more guys to injury could though.

Also remember the last time the Bears had a bye week, we were in the middle of the Brewers-Cubs NLDS series.  We've played 12 straight weeks of football.

All true.  It crossed my mind that the Rams having to play at SF means something.  I agree we don’t lose much but I also believe BJ will think about this in a calculated way.

I just don’t think Swift was the primary read, but he was very open

That screenshot looks great but the guy is sprinting full speed towards that open space.  By the time the ball gets there he’s not nearly as wide open.  I’m not saying it would have been a bad idea but it certainly wasn’t a gimme.

I’m not saying it was a great call, but it might have ended up being the best

There's also discussion I've seen that the Bears appeared to be expecting the 49ers to call a TO and it might have thrown off their timing a bit.  But because the Bears got the play call in late and the clock was running down, Shanahan elected to not use the TO.  Doesn't really excuse them for not being ready, you can't assume a TO is coming but could somewhat explain why the play seemed doomed from the start.

Honestly the really big play for the 49ers was the tackle on the hook and ladder.  That was a well executed play and they just made the tackle.

The big thing on the last play that was screwed up is the Niners rushed 3 and one came through unblocked while 3 Bears linemen were just standing there with nothing to do.

i think GB is a lot worse than any other team we could play in round 1 so i'd go for the win against detroit. the fact that we haven't had a bye since week 5 is interesting though.

This might have already been mentioned but today's 330 yard performance from Caleb made 4,000 yards a lot more doable.  Needs 270 yards if he plays vs Detroit to get to 4k, and 109 yards to set the Bears all time record for passing yards in a season.

Burden was talking to reporters.  Hopefully just a cramp

Also I'm now in the camp of resting everyone next week.

Campbell is a caveman. No doubt he will look to injure someone

And Baegent could still hang 30 on them

No way the Bears can rest players next week unless they are less than 100%.  You just can't concede possible home field advantage opportunities beyond the first round.

Isn’t everyone less than 100% right now?

If Kyle Shanahan had Caleb Williams, that duo would challenge Reid/Mahomes.

Are you suggesting Shanahan is that much better of an offensive mind than Ben Johnson?  Don't get me wrong Shanahan has certainly accomplished so much more thus far in their respective careers but I think we have a pretty elite offensive mind on our sidelines that is slowly unlocking the best version of Caleb.

I don't think it matters.  The ball wasn't catchable anyway.

Does it matter?  Isn't it still illegal contact?  Was called earlier on the Niners.

I'm saying if Shanahan had a Caleb type talent at QB and not Purdy, that combo would challenge Reid/Mahomes. That's how highly I think of Kyle as a HC.

I honestly don't think the Niners are going to beat Seattle next week.  The Seahawks won't be stopped by the Niners defense and the Seahawks, unlike the Bears, will be able to get a few stops or FG attempts.

Does Burden overtake Rome as the #1 WR?

If Rome doesn't step up his game, I believe so, Burden is starting to look like the Bears' version of St. Brown.

He’s the real deal for sure.  I’m sure BJ is going to get there.  This was a big time game.  Two exceptional HC’s going at it toe to toe.  Obviously I’m upset at not winning but the entire country watched the Bears do that on offense.  There shouldn’t be any doubters left.  Bears O is for real and it will only get better.

yes i think so. rome is a nice player but has he even been average for a top 10 overall drafted WR? he leaves me wanting more. burden is really explosive.
