Being an athlete is being a brand to some degree. What do you want your brand to be?

Interesting that he's the only athlete speaking at the event....

People care way too much about other people's opinions, especially when it comes to politics.

Why the hell should any one care about someone's political belief when it comes to baseball, or football, or basketball, or hockey, or soccer, or any sport? Sports, and entertainment in general, is a distraction from horsefeathers like that. So why the horsefeathers should any one be asked about their feelings torwards a political movement on a Cubs baseball forum?

You come off as someone plugging horsefeathers into AI to gather opinions and material as you research for a school paper. Nothing is natural about most anything you post. horsefeathers off.

How come the ignore feature isn't working on this dipshit?

You weirdly have to both ignore the user AND ignore their posts.

Yep, it confused me too. But I got it. Like the site much better without him. Now if only people wouldn’t white him it would be even better.

1) I think that I specifically said that people shouldn't be expressing their own opinion.

2) And plug my text into an AI checker if you want to see that I'm not AI.

That hurts. I posted on-topic, said people shouldn't be expressing their opinions on politics, people get mad at me for enforcing those rules, people get mad at me because they think the rules don't exist--I don't win here.

Saying that you like the site better without me hurts. I understand it. I'm stupid, dumb, and worthless. I agree with that. And That's what a lot of people say on here. But I'm trying to improve. And when I prove I'm talking about baseball, you still find a way to rip on me.

What makes a person an horsefeathers? Because they share different political views? Why are you even a fan of the Cubs given the ownership? The entire family is Republican and spent money on the Trump campaign.

Ditto--you said it before I could.

Polarization is a problem. To everyone on this forum, I'm only asking about if people like Shaw should be politically active in a controversial way, not if Turning Point USA is good/bad/stupid/awesome.

I think they spent money on the 1932 Herbert Hoyer campaign.

Different political views? Riiiight. Saying I'm for a smaller, more efficient government that taxes at the lowest rate possible is a political view. I don't agree with it, but I'm not going to get bent out of shape about it. Going to a speaking engagement at a White Supremacist rally and morning a grifter who did more damage to this country in his short and miserable life isn't about politics.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but they have consequences.

Exactly.  The take that one party is kind, loving, and altruistic and the other is evil, mean, and full of hate might be the dumbest take of all time.

Interesting thread here and it's definitely a small picture of why athletes don't speak out on issues. I wouldn't want to deal with the hassle either.

When Shaw decides to "pick a side" by aligning with a controversial (love TPUSA or hate them, there's no way the rational among us can't admit they are pushing a divisive agenda) organization, he chooses to take the love and the hate that comes along with that.

That's his to own at this point, especially when you mix in the huge salaries these guys get and the especially divided political atmosphere. He doesn't get to complain when say San Francisco doesn't make him an offer because of his outspoken political view.

I'm talking about politics--I'm just asking people not to talk about their personal political opinions, which is not appropriate for a forum.

There is a forum for politics that you can post this in when you have been here a certain number of days. Why not post this nonsense there then? Instead, you post it today in the main forum

I did not know that; I wasn't aware and I am sorry for posting this in the wrong place. No one gave me any indication other than joking about some "Rant and Social" thing that I think is fabricated.

Do you want me to delete this, or ask a moderator to delete it? Ultimately, I don't know how to navigate this place, and don't knowthat there are locked sections. (Sorry if I have typing errors, as I'm typing very discreetly in class.)

the question isn't should a player be vocal about his political beliefs, that answer is an obvious duh, yes.

the question is are matt shaw's political beliefs worth holding. that answer is an obvious duh, no.

end of the day, if our starting third baseman is a bigot, i'd rather know than not know.
