The entire NHL is very mediocre right now, with 27 teams between 41 and 53 points. The top 3 in the Central, though, are well out in front of everyone else. Mostly because there aren't really any terrible teams right now, even the Hawks are competitive at this point.

Winnipeg and Vancouver are pretty terrible

Canada might need a new goalie

There's doubt?

--------------

Did anybody see the Blues backup goalie, Joel Hofer, went into hiding in the hallway when the Blues was trying to pull Binnington?

The Blues really are a dumpster fire.

Progress?

The Hawks won their 18th game last night.

Last year, they didn't win their 18th game until March 1.

Were way past progress. They are on pace to get 20 more points than last year. You’ve got secondary scoring coming from non-star prospects. Levshunov is really developing. Crevier seems like another piece who can contribute longterm.

Bedard and Nazar are out and despite an early stumble the teams has recovered and is playing well. There are questions about where everybody will fit in the near-term rather than scrambling for any warm body to fill a spot.

Montgomery's tenure with the Blues is going to be short.

Blackhawks trade Nolan Allen and Brossoitt to Sharks. They swap a 7th for a 4th in 2028 and get a couple other guys

they take back Ryan Ellis’s 6.25m cap hit through next year which solves their “we can’t trade all our veterans” problem I guess

500 goals for Kaner tonight. And he is just 6 points from passing Modano for the all-time lead for US born players.

Commesso's performance last night in the 3rd period is what legends are made of. Most people didn't see it since it was happening during the Bears come from behind victory against GB, but the dude was cool as hell under a barrage of attacks.

JT returns to the UC tonight. I originally had plans to attend this game but ultimately decided not to. My heart just simply isn’t ready to see 19 and 88 in another uniform at a live game.

At my second Hawks game ever. Toews is somehow -11 on the year for the Jets. Got a huge standing ovation and then Caleb got one too when they showed him on the video board. Caleb is here sitting next to PCA I think.

Yes, that is PCA.

Lardis sent back to Rockford, mostly to make space for other healthy guys but also to allow him to play in AHL all star game

The Olympic break is coming and I believe the Hawks want him to play though the break. I also believe they prefer him to play first line minutes at RFD instead of B6 minutes in Chicago.
