As a life long Chicago Cubs fan thank you for a first half season of joy and fun. It is mid August and unfortunately something is obviously wrong, and that's a shame.

11-13 since the break, 8 games back of first. We have met the enemy and its the offense. The hitters have succumbed to the pressure. Tight, pressing, expanding, swinging.

They are no longer playing fun, loose, nothing to lose baseball. You can see it in their eyes. Crow-Armstrong, Tucker, Happ, Suzuki, Swanson look like deer in the headlights at the plate. Runners on second and third no outs, heart of the order, three straight ugly strikeouts. Embarrassing. They can no longer do the easy. 2nd half runners in scoring position, sorry not gonna happen. Good teams have good second halfs. Five games at Wrigley against the Brewers. We will all know soon if they are pretenders.

Agree their AB's have been worse.

If they can only play well loose in April/May they aren't going to do well in the playoffs.

I still believe in this team. Any one of us at the beginning of the season offered this record at this point in the season would take it.

I still hold that Cubs teams playing more day games is the problem.

build in rest. Give guys extended time off. Bring up Birdsell and Alcantra. Six man rotation for awhile. Rest Horton and Boyd. Rest Swanson, Happ, Zuki and Tuck.

Let the gingers burn under the hot sun.

Let the kids play until the old men are rested up. It may be fake IL time.

Is Birdsell even healthy?

Everyone freaked out because we didn't get a big arm at the deadline, when the irony is that the pitching has been fine-to-great and the offense is completely broken

Nope, shut down for the season with an elbow issue.

That’s my theory on why they won in 2016. They had one of the deepest benches in MLB history and a young core that could withstand the elements.
