I disagree man, im getting into some really unprojectable what ifs but i dont see anyone handing out 27 mil for Swanson. Teams dont dole out big cash for defense first players, unless if you have a comp im missing.

He was below league average bat last year too, hes getting toast, its probably not going to be THIS bad going forward but its not going to much better

Adames just got the Brinks truck rolled up with 8.1 fWAR and a 107 wRC+. Swanson's been the better player over that time. I would fully expect the league to pay Swanson.

I'm amused that most people hated the Boyd/Rea signings this winter and they have been arguably our two most consistently effective starters

I initially disliked both, but came around on Boyd. Will confidently say I didn't love Rea ever. Willing to eat crow on both.

Edit: though we do tend to win many of those games 😂

Rea is turning out to be an incredible pickup.  Just an innings filler and he keeps the ball in the park

I didn't think it possible for the Cubs to find a worse contract and possibly player than Jason Heyward, but here we are.  They would have lost nothing by keeping Nico at shortstop and using that money towards a SP or a different need

Dansby has led the team in WAR both years he's been here.  His defense is invaluable.

Cubs shut out a playoff contender to move to 16-10 in by far their hardest stretch of schedule. What should we talk about?

everyone else: the best player on the team the last two years

Sweet they got this one, tomorrow is going to be very hard, 17-10 against this absolute gauntlet of schedule is phenomenal.  Many of us would have been good 13-14, even 12-15, just not buried.  Palencia throwing strikes is a difference maker, if he can keep it up, Palencia followed by Hodge could work out real well.

Before the season I would have taken .500 in April if it were offered. The crazy thing is that it should be even better than 17-10.

Of course there's still time to lose a few, but this is pretty much a best case at this point in the season.
