Maybe next year Jed or whomever is running the Cubs will have a good bullpen

Only took Hoyer 10 years to realize that a team needs a star player, hopefully 11 does the trick for a good bullpen.

I'm choosing to believe the Cubs blew this game because the weren't going to sweep and want to win the next two days when I'm in attendance.

Have fun.  Whatever the results.  I love that neighborhood in SD. Hope I get back there someday.

Didnt Hoyer give up a pretty solid prospect for Morgan?

Alfonsin Rosario, 21st ranked Cubs prospect via MLB pipeline.

And Eli Morgan removed, could be headed to the IL. Which bodes well for Nate Pearson sticking around in Chicago.

He hit him 3rd last night and he was something like 0 for 15 with 12 K’s versus Glasnow.

Yeah that was weird, but maybe Counsell doesn't want to mess with the flow of the lineup since its going so well re: batting him 3rd.

Jed needs to be removed from more pitching mismanagement.

We’re gonna go from our starter leaving the game in line for the win to having a position player finish it out at this rate.

I hope they get all the bad plays, strikeouts and all the homers out of their system tonite.  Lose 30-3 and then come back tomorrow with the Fathers tired from running the bases and win the next two against them!

Here’s how the Cubs relievers started their innings tonight before recording an out:

6th: Single, Walk, Single, Single

7th: Walk, Double, Walk, Single, Walk

8th: Walk, Homer, Homer, Single, Walk

Just remember that in baseball, whatever happens tomorrow doesn’t matter today. Or whatever happens on a Monday doesn’t matter on a Tuesday. Wait a minute! The saying is whatever happens today doesn’t matter tomorrow. Tomorrow? How are we supposed to know what happens tomorrow if we haven’t seen it today?

It’s like the bullpen coaching staff really is effective at getting these guys warmed up and ready to go in …

Losing like this will happen. I just hope Jed was watching. This team for all its offensive talent can only get you so far without a functioning bullpen, picked up from Temu.

That's Happ's ball all the way IMO

The 3 outfielders have been having communication issues so far.  They need to yell guys off better, somehow.  Maybe its a crowd noise thing too, I dunno.   That was Happ's ball for sure, Tucker should have called Nico off last night, and PCA has been trying to catch some of Happ's flyballs.

That said, those bloops in no-man's land with multiple fielders are IMO the hardest plays to make.

When Caleb Thielbar is your big free agent prize for the pen, yea, it's gonna suck.

3rd BP implosion in the total of 8 losses. I really want for the Nate Pearson experiment to end, dude is a walking disaster out of the pen (velocity be damned). We need to stop scraping the bottom of the barrel with these reclamation project rejects, they just haven't worked.
I know the pen was good over the weekend but man Counsel overthinks these gameday situations too much for my liking. He should have left Taillon in to face the next batter, I mean he was only at 89 pitches. On to the next one.
