This is a next week thing, but WTF if Fox thinking putting OSU @ PSU  at noon?

FOX puts the best game available to them at noon every week (they have to now that the B1G has signed deals and locked in timeslots with CBS and NBC as well), and this game was available to them.

I know PSU fans especially hate crap like this because every big home game has to be a white-out, but this is what happens when you sell your soul to a conference and its TV overlords. If schools don't like it, don't cash the checks.

PSU only does one white out per year (they also do a "stripe out"). Putting your premiere game at noon instead of a night is just dumb. OSU v PSU has almost always been a night game, and the atmosphere is insane when it's night and at Penn State.

tl;dr Fox is stupid

It's been at noon as often as it's been at night in recent years, and it was only ever at night before because ESPN had a piece of the B1G TV deal. Now they don't, so the game's always going to be at noon if FOX can get it. You may not like it, but FOX does great ratings at noon and they basically own the B1G now, so here we are.

Just seems silly that the NFL pushes their featured games later while college (at least in Fox) does the opposite

FOX used to have all their biggest games in prime time and ABC mopped the floor with them no matter what the game was. People are just conditioned to watch the ABC game at night. That's what led to the noon move to begin with, and it's been very smart for FOX.

Day sports are always better than night sports

Especially since I'm asleep by half-time.

Absolutely. For football in particular. Waking up to the Bears London game and having the whole day left when it ended at 11:30 was the best.

Oklahoma is next to last in the country in offensive efficiency (only Kennesaw St is worse)

Good news, though, they only have Ole Miss, Mizzou, Alabama and LSU left on their schedule, so easy peasy

Narrative in Columbus all week was how Nebraska got destroyed by Indiana and how OSU has had 2 weeks to stew about their loss to Oregon.

It's now 14-9 OSU in the 4th quarter lol

Oh well, thought the Illini could possibly cover the spread, roles will be reversed come basketball time - provided they play Oregon, didn't check.

Notre Dame was so good at the "pick up the ball when Navy drops it for no reason" defense that it makes me wonder why everyone else Navy played didn't try it

Texas A&M is going to the SEC title game unless something goes seriously haywire in November.

I guess it really is very difficult to win in College Station.

(Also, thank God they didn't discover Marcel Reed sooner. Weigman is good but that extra dimension is scary.)

Somehow not targeting...

At the very least, unnecessary roughness, way late and completely avoid able on the part of the Oregon player.

I’m still on a high from that one. Not sure I’ve ever seen a game completely flip like that once Reed came in. I wish Elko would have gone to him in game 1 against Notre Dame like many of us Aggies were begging for.

Reed did start a few games earlier this season when Weigman was hurt. We struggled to throw the ball and the offense got stagnant. In a little concerned how effective they’ll be now that teams will be more prepared for him. I also think Collin Klein is more comfortable calling plays for a QB like Reed. Suits his style more. Either way, I’m enjoying this ride immensely. 11/30 should be 10-1 Texas playing at 10-1 Texas A&M. This will be our first game since 2011 so it was already going to be crazy. That matchup would be epic.

I was 100% expecting them to get pantsed and it would have been worse if Oregon didn't call off the dogs in the second half.

Yeah, it was clear from Oregon's first drive that the talent disparity was just huge.

And right now, that doesn't bother me too much as an Illini fan. They're far from the doormat of the Lovie years. Right now, the goal for me is Iowa results with a watchable offense. It looks like 8 wins is pretty realistic this year. It would only be the 16th season with 8+ wins in program history, and only the 7th of my lifetime. I'm happy with that, with hope that it will continue to improve. (And with a roster that should theoretically bring back all but like 10 dudes, that improvement could take off next year).
