Maybe ARams hamstrings are bugging him and Dusty is playing Perez because of it. Also, he wants to give Barrett some rest and not play him.

Let's face it, we don't know what's going on behind the scenes either. Maybe someone tested positive for steroids.

If that's the case he should say that's the case. In fact, if that were the case I would bet he WOULD say it, becuase then NO ONE would second guess him.

He can't handle being second guessed. That much is obvious. He has hairbrained reasons for doing things...

Honestly, I would not at all be surprised if somone higher up said "Hey, Dusty, don't you think we should play the backup 2nd baseman at 2nd base?" And Dusty replied "Sure, *mutter* *mutter* oh, buy the way, Aramis is sitting today and I'm going to put Neifi at third."

Maybe they don't want other teams to know he's hurt. I suppose I just don't understand why Dusty has to disclose everything.

There was this great line in one of the episodes of Lost where someone says:

A leader can't lead until he knows where he is going.

Seriously, I think Dusty needs to go to some deserted island and try to figure out what it takes to lead a team to a championship, cos he aint doing it.

In his career, Neifi Perez has played 6 games for a total of 19 innings at 3rd base. Fontenot would be a better decision, they're probably equally experienced at the position.

I'm completely convinced Fontenot could hit better than Perez.

Who is the backup 3rd baseman? I would have guessed Macias... but I guess we need his bat off the bench...

I blame Dusty for this rain-out.

If Dusty is responsible for this rainout, then he's done a good thing!

Prior + wet pitching conditions = disaster.

Well played, Dusty!

I bet yer thinking it's just cuz he's a rook, which may be the main reason. But the Ks are an important secondary reason I figure. Just my two cents.

then he should sit burnitz and corey and have hendry trade for some crappy slap hitters that always make contact.

we should also trade lee for loduca and just watch the runs come rolling in.

Will Carroll just said Dusty "must be fired" on ESPN 950 out of Indianapolis. He was ranting about Neifi and Dusty's love of "crappy" players.

Did anyone else hear this? I'd like to think I wasn't hearing my own thoughts instead of the broadcast.

Yet another reason to like Will Carroll. As if I needed anymore...

Oh god that's awesome. I'm sending him an email letting him know.

Who wants to take odds that in Wednesday's DH, Dusty trots Perez out there for both games, gets Macias a start, but Dubois and Fontenot sit on the bench?

This is so maddening and frustrating, I feel helpless and pissed off all at the same time. Dusty has to GO!!!

finally we get some people in the media who are pointing out the fact that dusty is terrible

I remember how earlier in the thread there was a concern about how NSBB would be perceived about "Dusty Busting", which was a great point.

I was just thinking though about what happens if the media figures out that he isn't the brightest in game manager and start to make points that this site had been making for awhile. Just a thought

That's my fervent hope DJaxx, that fan (and eventually, media) pressure will push things to the breaking point. It will take a while, but if Dusty continues his maddening ways--and we all have seen enough of Dusty to know that he will--then it will happen. Unless the team does surprisingly well and overachieves, for which Dusty gets undue credit. That seems most unlikely with this Cubs bunch though.

I would like to know Jim Leyland's status, if someone knows for sure. I heard something about a non-compete clause through 2006? That sounds bogus.

His multi-hit game aside, this Neifi situation is getting out of hand. Dusty's come out and said Hairston will be the regular starter...we'll let's see it. Let's see him get multiple starts in a row so maybe he can get a feel in the box. If that means starting him on both ends of a DH, so be it.
