I know I said this several pages ago, but who wants to bet against me that the combo of Macias and Perex will see over 2.5 times the plate appearnces of hairston and Dubois

And I agree with Raw on the first page. How to make this a sticky? My goodness....

There is no need to sticky this thread. It will be bumped every single day the Cubs play this season.

Sigh.

No way Dusty makes it past this season. He's gonna get the Sammy treatment...

The faster this guy is out while Prior, Wood, Zambrano, Ramirez and Patterson are still in their prime, the better.

Dusty is nowhere close to the worst manager in baseball. Interpret that however you wish, but there's a lot of guys out there managing right now that I'd take Baker over.

Please ease off the thread resurrection, Don. There were some auggiedoggie posts in that thread, and nobody should have to re-read those.

As for the Fire Dusty BandWGN, here's a thread I started last year the first week of September, as the collapse began and Dusty's mentally deranged state began costing us ballgame after ballgame. It was quickly shuffled off to rants, hah--

viewtopic.php?t=13927&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=fire+baker&start=0

Based on some of the comments in this thread, I thought you might enjoy the opening post I wrote back then (boldface added by me here, not then)--

I'm serious. Because Baker is such a "great guy" and a friend to all his players, we as fans, and the Cubs as an organization, have to accept his tiny little brain as it costs us ballgames and a chance at the playoffs?? Where's the accountability here? Every person following the Cubs sees Baker's glaring failures, do we need to itemize each game he has directly cost the Cubs this year? Here's a hint: if we had even half those games back, we wouldn't even be talking about a "Wild Card Race", no matter hot the Astros and Marlins are.

I'm sick of Baker, they ran him out of San Francisco for a reason, they were sick of his stupidity. Felipe Alou has got as much out of that team in terms of results with only half the talent on board. Baker had 3 times the pitching, a dominant Robb Nen, and a half-dozen bats surrounding Bonds.

Now he gets to Chicago, Hendry gives him a solid team, and Baker's shortcomings become all-too apparent as he leads this team to failure.

For the September 7, 2004 decision to play Jose Macias, and bat him 2nd, while his 300 AVG hitters are put 3-5-7-8, in a playoff race--for this reason alone, Jim Hendry should fire Baker on the spot. Who's employ is Baker really in, anyway? Could he be doing this on purpose?

Some things never change. Fire Baker now.

I dislike Dusty a great deal, but Ryan is right. There are plenty of really dumb managers out there that are on the same level as Dusty.

That being said, money could be made if someone were to invest in some "Dusty Buster" tshirts and sold them on here.

Correct. But I'd guess Dusty's the worst when considering finances too.

I was there, that very dark day when our Manager batted Lenny Harris in the leadoff slot for the Cubs... It was all over after that.

Down by 4, late innings, runner on, let's not put someone up to pinch hit who can hit a homer....let's put Neifi Perez up there....

DUSTY YOU ARE A FOOL!!! IT'S OFFICIAL!!!

What is wrong with that stooge??

Stooge (and I don't know why) implies being a tool or pawn of another... And wow, I would hate dusty if it turned out he was a stooge instead of a clueless shmuck

I'm thinking Curly, Moe or Larry.

Nobody should be surprised that Dempster got rocked. His spring sucked from beginning to end. His last start against Seattle wasn't very good either, despite just giving up one run. Everything against Seattle was up. Everything. The Mariners were getting good wood on his pitches, they just weren't scoring. While no one would argue with the result, a more critical look at his performance was an easy predictor with respect to last night's struggles.

Dempster stinks. I could give a rodent's rear end about his "make-up" or "mentality" or whatever redeeming, intangible quality you want to throw at me. He has shown nothing that warrants a spot on this pitching staff anywhere. I'm no huge Mitre fan, but I'd rather see him get the experience in the hopes of him turning into something of value. Dempster simply blows and has demonstrated his poor value all spring long.

Heck, consider stretching Welly out. I'd rather see him or Leceister try their hands at ML starting than the $2M mistake that is Ryan "Crazy Man" Dempster.
