I don't think there's any way he's not starting next year - short of some 3B dropping into their lap in the offseason - if he stays this cold the rest of the year the leash for next year may be getting shorter.

I hope he gets better but if they have an opportunity to upgrade over him after he been doing nothing since July 1st, I hope they make the move. 

Nothing wrong with having him on the bench for DH/1B/3B
