PCA sitting at a .616 OPS. If he can somehow get it up to like .650 by year's end, I'd consider that a very successful rookie year.

Considering the start, that’s a huge win.

.719 ops with a 94 wRC+ since 7/1. I imagine he’ll BABIP higher than .241 as well moving forward.

.890 ops/138 wRC+ since 8/1.

VERY happy with his progress.

The Cubs, somehow in 2nd place in the NL Central

EDIT: 3rd place (Cards won tonight)

The “somehow” is because the NL Central is complete crap. I’m fairly confident the Cubs will leapfrog the Cardinals. Giants too. Their schedule is tough. Mets just lost 2/3 to the As and have a fairly difficult schedule. Unfortunately the mediocre Braves will be tough to pass. They have a pretty light schedule, like us.

PCA has that Javy magic.

And then he loses it

I don't think he has much Javy magic IMO.  He's just overly aggressive and once or twice a week it bites him, not even including the lack of walks.  Sometimes the aggresiveness works in his favour, and it's probably just luck whenever it works or not.  I'm embarrassed for him on a regular basis, but he's young.  Javy's brain was different.

What sort of weird fixture anomaly are the Cubs going through recently? 4 off days between August 8th and August 19.

That prospect will likely be Shaw

Paredes will be the 3rd baseman next year. The entire year.

This literally describes 2015-2016 javy.

Yep, I can see the  cubs similar to last year. Last team out. Maybe 84 wins. Lost too many bad games early.
