I'll be surprised if he's not DFA/non-tendered and I would suspect it's likely he signs a minor league deal with the Cubs so he can rehab under their watch with an eye toward 2026.

With it being TJS I think this increases the likelihood he stays in the org. It'll be easier to non-tender and re-sign him to an off 40 man deal to let him rehab compared to a surgery where he might hope to be pitching in games by May.

Man what's the % of pitchers actually recovering naturally after the R&R they take after the flexor strain? Feels like it delays the inevitable and they pitch compromised to about 70% of their abilities. I get the reason it's preferred but it doesn't feel like it works out often.

It has been a huge bummer not having the great Adbert in the pen this year. Hope he comes back strong in 2026.

This sucks.  Beyond being a good pitcher he seems like a good evangelist for a lot of the work the coaching staff does.  Like TT said hopefully the timing works out where they can sign him to a MiLB deal to stash him and free up the roster spot.

This really sucks. Adbert's one of my faves. He signed a card for me through the mail back when he was in Tennessee and I've been pulling for him ever since. He definitely looked like our closer last year and I had high hopes for him this season. So we won't see him until, what, May or June 2026 at the earliest? And that's if all goes well.

It's 18 months until spring training 2026.  I'd be surprised if he's not ready to go full steam by then.  They may have to watch his innings in 2026 (assuming he's pitching well) but no reason he shouldn't be ready at the beginning of the season.

The wrist bones are connected to the arm bones.

The arm bones are connected to the elbows.

The elbows are connected to the something.

The somethings connected to the red thing.

The red thing's connected to my wristwatch.

Uh oh.

Agree. Bradish delayed having surgery at the start of the season and tried to pitch through it with R&R. Everyone knew what the end result was going to be for him. Now he's also likely to miss all of 2025. I know it's a tough decision, but I think I'd rather just bite the bullet and get it over with.
