I know everyone is tired of hearing it, but there was some bad luck (and defense) in there again too.  Hendricks certainly wasn't great and he gave up a rocket of a grand slam, but it never should have got to that.

I'm the first to complain about luck but we're doing it every day. Either we're the most spectacularly unlucky team in MLB history or we just suck and you notice bad luck a lot more when you suck

Correa was their first choice the entire time, they just kept their options open and were also pursuing Swanson.

Correas a bad fit for Jed’s Cubs. Too elite. Discount Dansby and Jed’s preference for defensive runs saved in place of OPS was the clincher.

I can't argue with that. That's why I prefaced my post with being tired of hearing the bad luck angle.  If you ALWAYS have bad luck, it probably isn't luck at all.

Steele, Taillon, Imanaga, Assad, Brown, Wicks

When healthy theres no spot for Hendricks in 2024 rotation

Yeah, I just have a feeling kyle won't waive his rights and he'll be sitting next to Hector in the bullpen if the rotation becomes healthy

Yeah. I was not a fan of the Swanson signing. I just didn't see long term value in the guy.

Cubs sometimes like to sign washed up FA that other teams didn’t want anymore

Michael Busch is one reason to watch this team.

Shota definitely another.

A third could be PCA to see if he ever can hit a lick.

Not much else right now

Oops I failed to add lip reading Steele

Before posting a 5.5 WAR in 2022 his career high was 2.8. I’m curious what the second highest bidder was offering.

Considering Braves offered him 6 yr 100 mill, im guessing it was around there for the other teams. Swanson was also willing to give the Braves a big hometown discount

Ricketts has Comcast over a barrel here. I'm sure that people are calling like crazy to make sure that they can watch this

Not surprising. Braves are much smarter organization but if that’s the second highest offer Jed should be fired on the spot for that alone. It’s an overpay but that’s so ridiculous there had to have been a higher offer unless I’m giving Jed too much credit.

Hoerner you should have crushed that.  That was a terrible pitch. I guess two home runs in one game would be too much.

Getting the horsefeathers kicked out of us by the brewers over and over again is really getting demoralizing.  Especially now with Counsel.  Maybe we should hire whoever their GM is next and get rid of that bozo Jed

Coming into today Dansby Swanson has been the most productive of the 4 shortstops since they all signed their contracts

https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/major-league?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=y&type=8&month=0&ind=0&startdate=&enddate=&season1=2023&season=2024&pagenum=2&pageitems=30

He's the cheapest of the four, younger than Turner and Bogaerts, and not physically compromised like Correa.  You can complain about plenty of things Jed has done but complaining about Swanson is straight up dumb.
