Hodge really really wanted to catch that ball.

Yeah I'm sure Bote was doing what he was supposed to and looking only at the ball but that sucks that Hodge didn't get get that opportunity.  Catching the 3rd out on your first MLB save?  Come on that would rock.

Credit where it’s due, the pen did a job today.

I was assuming they'd lock it down until the Cubs had the lead and then blow it, but Hodge did well there.

I do not understand sending Happ there…not even close. Willie Harris at his finest

The Cubs strand hitters like mad and suck with RISP especially 2 outs.  PCA was up next and he's horrible.  I'll defend Counsell and Willie on most aggressive sends right now given how this team is hitting.  Better to try to score than watch PCA strikeout I think.  Giants made a perfect throw to home, Cubs took a calculated risk.

The RISP stuff is pretty overstated.  Fangraphs has a stat called Baseruns, which basically strips out all sequencing and estimates how many runs you should score based on your hits, walks. etc.

The Cubs coming into today have scored 4.12 runs per game.  Baseruns thinks they should have 4.19, that's 5-6 runs over the entire course of the season to this point.  So like 3-4 extra hits with runners in scoring position?  The issue is just the baseline level of offense, not any sort of issues with clutch.

Last 15 games for Little: 1.98 ERA, 0.88 WHIP (2 HITS in 13.2 IP). He’s gonna walk some guys but he’s not getting hit at all.

What about since May 1?  Either way, we can say that since May 1 they've been terrible at knocking in runs, and the bottom of the order has been almost useless.
