Steele pretty mediocre through 3 (6 hits - 5 singles and a double, 3 earned runs, a wild pitch, but also 4 Ks and a walk), but probably most importantly he's thrown 62 pitches and is back out there for the 4th inning.

Welp, per gameday he threw one pitch in the fourth (a fly out) and then got pulled. Which is a little weird.

I was watching.  Nothing weird and looked like that was the plan.  Not great but it's a first rehab start so I'm not worried about it at this point.

Can we not Tom up everything?  It took me 2 minutes to figure out who you were talking about.

Brett Bateman may need to make his way to Tennessee soon.  Very little power but he's not really being challenged, plus he's 21/24 SB in 52 pro games.

Updating this since the game's over now and I don't have to do a bunch of napkin math: 92 PA, .352/.495/.465, 19/19 K/BB, 7/9 SB

Tom didn't start that one, I think I saw it last year. I kind of like it.

The Tom thing is just using weird ass language to make a point way more complicated than if you just used plain English so everyone understands what you're trying to say.

Have we gotten velo reports on him yet this year?  IIRC his scouting report coming out of the draft was that the fastball was a bit light but he does everything else you want.  And as we all know the Cubs have been able to coax some velo out of guys.

Good to see him turn and burn one off the lefty. It's one month into his Triple-A journey but he's really been hitting lefties well this year; a big jump from years past.

He's not far off.  I feel like I want to see him go on a power binge, go through a slump, and come out of it.  At that point it's basically whenever the roster allows

Justin Steele didn’t have much success today per the numbers, but it’s great to see him back pitching in game.
