Here's a good sign for anyone who needs it on Mervis:

His ability to do damage across the plate has been significantly better so far in 2024. He's also seeing increased EV in more places:

Wesneski would be a pretty strong signal of Hendricks to the IL, right?  Save for a previously undocumented injury I can't think of an obvious swap unless the only reason he hasn't been up for Brewer was they wanted someone like him or now Teheran stretched at Iowa.

Believe Wesneski had to wait 15 days for a return unless it was an IL thing as well. So I'd assume this is Hendricks unless another, different SP dropped.

Oh good point, I hadn't knocked my previous assumption that he would be the DH callup out of my head.  So yeah someone is getting IL'd, and you'd have to assume Hendricks is the favorite.

Ignore the xwOBA chart! It's apparently all jacked up at the Triple-A level right now.

Are you able to break this down for 2023 for pre and post callup?

Not Happ. Happ said he'll play tonight.

So...maybe Morel and his finger? Or maybe Canario heads back to Iowa.

If I had to guess I would say Canario. Maybe Morel has shown enough for them to put him at 3rd more regular so now they want either the DH to be Mervis against a right handed pitcher or Cooper or Wisdom against a left handed pitcher. Maybe even so much as Cooper and Wisdom play and Busch sits against SOME lefties. Not a straight platoon for Busch. Just maybe a day every so often against a lefty.
As for the pen arm I would guess Brewer gets sent back down.

As much as I like Canario,  this team needs Happ in the lineup everyday.

Hopefully it's not Happ

Somebody needs to go on the IL though, or Wesneski can't be called up.

I've been told by a bunch of people that Garrett Cooper sucks, maybe it's for him

It would make sense if they wanna go with the lefty/righty DH option of Wisdom and Mervis

Morel probably needs an IL stint. He's been brutal.

He's had some bad goes. With that said, he's running like a near .100 BABIP over this stretch and his contact/swing decisions aren't anywhere egregious, either. Hopefully he stays the course because there should be some regression to the mean.

I really hope Mervis can make it work this time, having another LH power bat in middle of order to go with Bellinger would be huge for this lineup,  especially when Suzuki returns.

Morel the kind of hitter at least to me who can look brutal one series or two and then breakout the next with a couple big games..

I'm looking for that against the Stros 🤞🤞

If it is Morel, which I doubt but is a possibility, seems weird they would choose to go with Cooper, Mervis, and Busch all at the same time....unless it's now Busch's turn to be the 'well his bat is so good, if he can just be passable at third...' guy.
