Just to harsh everyone's buzz a little, also his 6th error in 9 games.

Yeah the defense hasn't been good this year. I think he's going to end up sizing out of SS as is. so it might be moot if it's a "can't play short" more so than a "just isn't good at defense" thing. Always hard to scout defense via the potato-quality of MiLB streams, and I choose to just leave that portion of MiLB futures to the experts, so I can't really speak to which it is, however.

Horton breezed through 4 innings. One hit that could have been an error and a walk. Hist stuff was overwhelming hitters.

Josh Rivera had a dong. Shaw has an RBI single and a walk. Aliendo threw out a steal attempt. Smokies up 2-0.

Reliever comes in and can’t get anyone out. The Biscuits are the top offensive team in the young season. Shows how good Horton pitched.

Why only 47 pitches?

They're intentionally limiting his use early in the season so he's available at the end of the year assuming they make the playoffs.

That makes sense, though I could have sworn I heard an interview with either Jed or Carter in the off-season were they said the main goal this year was to stretch him out and get him going longer into games.

I'm just glad he's not hurt.

They are still going to do that. The ramp up will be slow and steady but he's pretty efficient. We could see some 80 pitch outings where he goes 7.

My biggest takeaway from that video: not sure how someone calling professional baseball games does that badly with Spanish names (unless I am missing something).

Glad to see Horton breeze through last night. The angle on his first game was hard to tell what he was doing, but he didn't look...as sharp...as he did last night his first go. That's not a critique, it was his first start of the year, but he just absolutely dominated last night.

Can't remember who to give them the proper credit, but someone on twitter mentioned that what Cade Horton does is the opposite of "nibble" and I can't agree more. Horton goes through brick walls. And that brick wall is the hitter.
