It would shock me if Hendricks ended up in the pen except for an extreme emergency situation.

And in fairness to Hendricks he should have been through 4 with no runs allowed and probably 60 to 65 pitches. His defense didn’t help him. He got into trouble the 3rd time around. And, this is the dodgers.

I feel like we had a couple defensive plays that can’t be expected to be made either that more than made up for that miscue. The dodger lineup just hit him hard.

I'm absolutely not implying that he's going to be bad or anything but Belli has looked off for the most part this year with a couple exceptions.

It was the right decision to start the season. He performed well last year.  When Steele and Tailon get back, maybe you look at how Assad and Hendricks have performed and reevaluate that fifth spot. But I'm not sure i'm digging his grave after 2 starts against the Rangers and Dodgers either.

Yup, people overestimate the good and the bad at the beginning of the season every year. Sample size is 2 starts for pitchers so far and hitters 30 ABs roughly lol.

It’s the Dodgers.. And the umpire is not giving the low strike. Hendricks absolutely needs that part of the plate. And you need some good plays to hold down the dodgers. I don’t think he did as bad as the final numbers showed. He has very shotty defense easily and threw way too many pitches to get out of the first, that should have been much easier.

Exactly. And with Hendricks even when he was really good, he has a run of 2-4 bad starts in a row.

Edit: 100 *more* WAR? Damn

Yup. Bonds and Ruth are north of 160. Mays and Cobb sitting at 150. Williams is "only" at 130, but he missed 3 full seasons and parts of 2 more (all during his prime) due to his military service.

So for a player to be in the GOAT conversation, they probably need to be in that 150 range at least, or have a damn good reason why they aren't.

Nice painting the corners to Betts.  Now just have to figure out how to get Ohtani out, currently 2-4 with a double, HR and loud lineout

Would help if strikes were called strikes
