If they go with three catchers on the 26 man roster, I'm traveling to Chicago to issue a formal protest to Jed.

I was thinking he be a revolver between AAA and chicago.

Is that a thing? I think if he doesn’t make the team by a certain date he can opt out with the cubs.

I think Amaya might stay down at AAA to get consistent playing time, and possibly takes over next season when Gomes is a free agent

Somebody has to be considered a 3 stationed in Iowa. Didn't realize he can force an opt out

No chance ...

He'll get plenty of ABs and will learn more under Gomes

I just figured he'd split 60/40 50/50?

What happened on the Morel play in question?

Back hand, got to the ball, couldn't transfer and made a late and bad throw to first.

That'd be gross.

Under Counsell maybe so, he was barely playing when Ross had them both up

Smyly blows ass.

Spring Training means very little and I think he's probably pretty much a gimme to make the opening day roster. But if he's garbage out of the bullpen I hope they don't wait to long to jettison him just because he's making some money. They've got much more interesting arms.

That's just not true?  Amaya didn't get called up until May and still played in more than 50 games despite Gomes having a good year.  We'd expect his playing time to grow this year as part of his natural progression and because Gomes may not be as good as he was in 2023, not because Ross was holding him back.

MLB.tv will not ruin Barracuda for me. I don't care how many times I hear it in that commercial. That is one of the best riffs ever recorded.

Maybe a trade before spring training wids down? Obviously some team to fill out their rotation?

No one is going to want him unless the Cubs dump a pile of cash to go along with him. I agree, ST doesn't mean anything. He's definitely not a starter and they are short on LH guys, so he's on the team.
