This was the first postseason game  with the new rules, it was first implemented last year but never had a game go to OT until this SB. Regular season, they reduced it to 10 minutes I think due to player safety or something during the last CBA. Just do what they do in college for the regular season in my opinion.

I know I am in the minority but I loved the Sudden Death rules.

definitely in the minority. They could have dispensed with the rest of the game and decided it on the coin toss.

I get it. All the same, I prefer the Sudden Death rules.

Sudden death when it was a mere field goal was horrible. It would be even worse today where the kick off is virtually eliminated, you get the ball on the 25, and offenses are more high powered than they've ever been. 70% of the time the kicking team would never get the ball again.

Also, kickers are so much better than they used to be. The entire NFL made almost 70% of their fg attempts from 50+ this year.

Teams really would only have to move the ball about 40 yards to have a legit shot to end the game.

And? What's the problem?

The NFL should just implement shootout rules for OT.

Each team nominates five players, who each get one free uncontested 40 yard FG attempt off a tee. If, after each team's five attempts, the teams are tied. It goes to rock paper scissors, baby!
