It would appear that neither Ohtani or Yamamoto signing were the damn breaking events we had hoped for.

It will be a funny event when the Braves sweep them in October.

Gosh. I'm getting a financial course. A chemistry class, a civics lecture and a humanities seminar all without getting out of my recliner. It's Friday afternoon and almost time to breakout the Widow Jane 14 yr. Life is good. Keep it up boys & girls you're helping on a rainy day.

One of my new favorites is New Riff single barrel.  It's 112.5 proof and delicious!!

Now we're into the holidays, so I don't expect much to happen until January

Unclear if this is at all a rumor or if it's pure speculation.  The Sox system is not as desolate as it was, but I think they're generally still in a position to take quantity in a deal.

Definitely worded like it’s speculation. He’s probably the only starting pitcher that’s apparently available that would legitimately excite me a lot.

Depends what part of the "top Cub pitching prospects" pool the White Sox are willing to indulge in. There's no way I'm giving up Horton, but just about every other pitching prospect+Wicks would be available for me.

Part of my Christmas wish list from the last page was trade Morel + Wesneski + Triantos for Cease + Moncada.  If the WS want young pitching, maybe switch Wicks for Triantos.

I don’t want to lose Morel, PCA or Horton. If they can put something together without those 3 I am good with Cease. Does Wicks, Brown and Alcantara get it done. Do they need to add another guy. Not top 10 guy. If Moncada is added, I think those 3 are more than enough. .

I don’t see any scenario where Jed has the stones to grab Cease. But sign me up for many different scenarios that don’t include Horton or PCA. I really like Cease.

Perhaps I’m overvaluing our own prospects too, but I’m not sure there’s anyone available that would make me deal Horton.

Of all the names we've heard with the possibility of being moved, Logan Gilbert is about the only one I'd do it for.

When you plug guys into BBTV, which several guys have referenced here,  to determine if trade values are equal, it looks like Cease should cost something like Brown, Wicks and Alcantara. And if the Sox wanted to move Moncada and his salary, he is actually negative value. That sort of deal would work for just Alcantara and Wicks. I know that site isn’t something that should be used to make up deals, but I would think it shouldn’t be that far off. I would do a deal with or without Moncada.

Agreed. And I am not so sure he is available.

I think I’d do that. To me, that seems light though. Never played with that tool yet. Damnit, I might today!

Love the trade talk fellas I really do but it's not going to happen. Someone please remind me when Jed freaking Hoyer last traded prospects to upgrade a roster during the off season.

Jed over values prospects and perceives "trade costs" as prohibitive as a result. It's why there is no history of roster upgrades via prospect trades. It's one of his short comings in my opinion.  His only "upgrades" are minor moves at trade deadlines nothing that moves the needle in the off season.

That is a weak argument though. I mean tell me the last time the Dodgers signed a pitcher for 12 years before a few days ago. When was the last time anyone paid a $700M before Ohtani signed. Since Jed has been in charge what prospects did he really have to bring back someone of Cease’s ability. Also, why would he have done that previously?  Ins weren’t not looking to compete. They were looking to build. So why trade prospects for proven talent? I do have my doubts that this particular idea will result in anything. But not because he hasn’t done something like this yet. I just think it is hard for 2 teams to agree on values. Maybe Jed is overvaluing the Cubs prospects too. But I don’t think he is afraid to make a deal and past years have nothing to do with now, IMO.

Thanks for the recommendation, I've often seen this in stores I frequent. Price is right for a daily sipper. I'm gonna get this. Thanks again for the suggestion

If you ever get the chance, Bourbon 30 in Georgetown, KY is amazing. You get to build your own bottle with unlimited tastings. Bring a driver

Thumbs up. !

I'm creating an infinity keg. I've been taking a little bit of the last pour from every 5th for awhile now. I'm curious what kind of Frankenstein I'll combine. Probably won't taste this for several years.

Apparently the Royals and Marlins discussed Pasquantino for Luzardo.  If he's truly available, would prefer Luzardo over Cease easily.

Me too, but I think Luzardo would cost more prospect capital.
