Tomorrow should be interesting. Merryweather looks like he’s throwing enough pitches to be down tomorrow, Leiter looks very shaky and Alzolay might be dead

either way, Cubs win!

Maybe Canario can make his debut as a pitcher.

Girardi broke his curse. Previously the 2 series he did color for in the 2nd half were the 2 series the Cubs have lost since the break

Not going to count on anything from Colorado. But would be nice for the Phillies to hit a rough patch here. Make it purely a seeding question, vs a making it in general question, and you can decide how much you want to step on the gas.

Rockies lead the DBacks 3-2. If the Rockies win, the Cubs playoff cushion will be 3.5 games. If the DBacks win, it stays at 3

padres up 3-0 over philly

win tomorrow and they’ll be 6 up on the giants with just over 20 games left.

Plus the tiebreaker that they clinched tonight. Can’t see the giants playing 7 games better than us over a 20 game span

Cubs pull to within 10 games of the second bye...

Also 11 over .500 for the first time this year.

Also have eclipsed last season's win total.

No one asked Ross about Alzolay’s status which kind of surprises me. It might not be a big deal but he’s clearly altering his bullpen usage to avoid using him, you’d think that’s something reporters might ask about.  4 straight days off now and 5 of last 6

This has been quite a response coming off the 2 blown saves.  Many of us have been conditioned to think that those types of bad losses are going to lead to the inevitable collapse, but this team has fought back time and time again.  They just continue to find ways to win series after series

As much as I don't want the Cubs to take their foot off the pedal, tomorrow's game seems like a good candidate to give a few starters some rest.  Day after night game with another big 4 game series coming and 7 more days total without a break.  It probably wouldn't hurt to sit a few of the guys who have been playing every single day for the past month plus.

I have not looked at or thought about the matchups but just spitballing…

2B - Morel

SS - Swanson (doesn’t take days off)

Rockies managed to hold onto that 3-2 lead for the rest of the game and beat the DBacks. So the Cubs playoff cushion is 3.5 games and their cushion over WC3 is 3 games (does suck a little that the Cubs have lost the tiebreaker with both of those teams). With the Phillies loss the Cubs also pull to within 1.5 games of WC1.

the Reds result sucked especially considering the Reds easy schedule after this series. Brewers win sucked obviously. Marlins beating the Dodgers sucked but it ended up being an alright night.

As for Arizona, would be nice to enter that series at least 4 games up. We won’t get swept but if they did somehow lose all 4 they can only tie us. Winning 3 of 4 only gets them to within 2 games.
