Booo.  But not direct competition...so yay.

5.5% playoff odds coming into today, but ok then.  I don't blame them though, its just money and not only improves their chances but also prevents the twins from grabbing them

My opinion is that if you have four starters going into Spring Training, you need two more.

They can add at least two more, the TOR they might trade for, others  they'll invite to ST, also possibly Brown, Horton,  Wesneski..

Theyll have enough depth arms

May be Tito's last year in the dugout too.

Oh the boo was that they didn't make their way to Chicago (not that I expected it)...not about Cleveland.  Cleveland getting them was the "yay" part.  That's a best-case-Cubs-scenario, really, if we didn't get them.  Good bet for Cleveland...just money, might as well.

I didn't know you can win multiple claims at once, I thought if you claimed one, you gad to wait til your next turn to claim another.

DBacks didnt get anyone but put claims on 4 players, but all the Angels players were claimed meaning that I'm guessing the rest of the players went to the Red Sox.

Edit: Marlins also didnt get anyone

Nope.  It's just one order.  Put in as many claims as you want, the order only changes if teams W-L record changes.  Claims don't move the order.

Nope, not with how the rules are now

Interesting. Apparently they think they can make up 5 games.

Depending on amount of teams ahead of ya, i remember when the talk was always about if you can be within 5 games of division on September 1st, you have  a chance.

And its valid even in this case its just that teams that are 6 games under .500 heading into September usually aren't within 5 games of the division lol.

Good for them though. They have nothing to lose but the money, so why not try to take a run at it if ownership gave the green light to spend a bit more.

I mean, if I'm the Guardians, I look at the Twins and think to myself "Yes, this is a team that can be beaten, especially if we add two starters and they don't."

Also gives them a head start with working with and possibly signing one or two before FA period starts

I doubt the Guardians are signing any of those guys. This is a month roll of the dice. Glad they did it. Didn’t want to see any of the teams  right behind the Cubs add any pitching. Reds getting Bader sucks because he is always good against the cubs. But otherwise not too worried about who they got and no one else for anyone.
interesting that Clevenger went unclaimed. Guess some team do value morals and character.
