Every single Fields pass besides the Mooney TD was some kind of dump off or checkdown

He had the one slant to Moore and a decent gain on a rollout in the first. That's the only ones downfield successfully I can remember besides the TD.

I've been saying since the beginning that I like Poles' approach (accumulating draft value, letting go of veterans) but I hate what he's been building toward.  I think you have to give him a chance to draft his own QB though.

Justin (he sees only the closest 7 yards of football) Fields.

You’ll be glad you didn’t buy NFLST on days you can’t get the Bears.

Trust me.  I know.

i think what's most depressing about this game is that they scrapped the playbook and designed runs from the fun parts of last season, which is defensible because it's the only way you're going to get a real evaluation on fields

but then they tried to get the passing game going with the screen game and ended up taking a bunch of penalties and like free rushers off the edge that killed drives in the first half. a sick screen game would be great but it has to be a function of defenses being scared of the downfield passing game if you want it to work at all like KC or philly

and then they tried to do the downfield passing attack and it was nothing but a grab bag of fields being afraid to fire it downfield because he didn't know what he was looking at and either checking down, scrambling or getting sacked

really dire stuff

name a good thing the bears organization has going

I like Poles' approach to building draft value.  We've got double firsts each of the next two drafts and a good cap situation.

I am suspicious of what he's trying to build with them, but I like the value approach.

No you don’t. You really don’t. He made his bed and his bed is made out of cardboard boxes. He punted an off-season and his team is paying for it today. He’s not good. He could have taken a qb this offseason and chose not to. When Ryan Poles has an opportunity to make the team better he defers, and there is zero evidence he  is capable of fixing this mess.

Virgina HAS to die soon, right? RIGHT?!

Meh, even that won’t help this horsefeathers show.

That's fair. It makes sense to look at this past offseason as him claiming Fields as his guy.

Someone asked Eberflus at his presser what’s one thing that the team would like to improve on. He said the basics of football. That’s a huge indictment on him.

I don’t think he realizes that
