The Cards are in town for four games, kicking off eight games against the Cards in less than two weeks. Basically, the Cubs have control over how much the Cardinals will sell at the deadline.

We'd really hate to see that opportunity wasted.

Edit: What the hell is going on, MLB.com? The entirely wrong game was live on the page this morning, now it's a night game with Stroman.

And now MLB.com has changed the time, starters, etc.

I thought maybe I was on the wrong page this morning but that's not the case, as I posted the Brewers/Phillies game from the same info and all of that is correct. MLB.com just had the wrong game listed for awhile.

This is basically the only time I'm ever going to do this, but I think it would be hilarious if the Cardinals took like 7 of 8 from the Cubs, where they then find themselves like 6 or 6.5 out of the division and they decide to buy instead of sell. They lose prospects in the trades and they lose the opportunity cost of have acquired prospects at the deadline.

I discovered that DirecTV gifted me Extra Innings for the rest of the year, so I can share in everyone's misery now

The Cardinals are 10 games and 3 teams out of the division and 9.5 games and 6 teams out of the wild card.  Mozeliak has very publicly declared them sellers(albeit with an eye on 2024 contention).  Their race is run for 2023.

Mancini starting his 6th straight game.  So far in the first 5 games he is 3-15 with 0 XBH, 1 BB, 0 RBI during a stretch where the Cubs have scored 45 runs.

I'm starting to develop a morbid fascination with Mancini's plate appearances.

His baseball savant page has become mine.

I’ll be drinking Gin and Tonics for this game. I’m on PTO Friday and Monday.

first observation. The mustache works on Wisdom. He looks like a 1970s TV private investigator.
