Howdy there, y'all!

It's sad when a website shuts down, especially one that's been operating over 2 decades.

I've only been on NSBB since April, but you're getting a great community here.

Enjoy the horsefeathers.

It's clear that Brock used the windfall from buying this joint to also buy PSD and torpedo their forums.

I see you, Brock.....

As a former moderator on PSD, you wouldn't need to buy PSD as I'm fairly certain the ownership of that website would have been glad to give someone money to take that system off their hands.  The backend of that site was archaic.

(It was so bad that my initial reaction to learning the IT for the website posted our closure date that I believed it had to be a scam because we haven't heard from them in literal years)

Yeah, PSD is running some ancient version of... vBulletin, maybe? I know I've used the software platform they're on right not but I've used most software platforms and they all kinda blur together at this point.

The software they're using is at least a decade old.

VBulletin, yep!  And a completely absent owner/IT group.  We've basically been running the site with a handful (like 5-6) active moderators and not a single way to fix anything on the backend or change anything.  There was once the site went all the way down, and thankfully after a day or so, someone was able to find someone to get us back online.  I'm shocked anyone even told us we were shutting down; the 24th feels weird with timing (TDL is such a boon to site traffic) but I always figured we'd try to sign on one day and realize it was just dead and broken forever without warning, and frankly I'm not sure which I prefer now haha.

Glad to see this place runs quite opposite to PSD in these regards!

Hi,   I had been on PSD for well over 15 years.    I'm hoping others from our group migrate over to here.   I think the Cubs site was a majority of the activity over there.   Sad its going away.   I have occasionally stopped in here but finally setup an account.   Going to be a while to adjust to the format differences.   I Do like your Prospect rankings page here.    I am no longer very active on forums,   Usually just active during trade lines/MLB draft.   Or whenever something special is happening in Cubs World.

Love seeing all the PSD dudes over at NSBB, especially 1908.

You guys will love 1908.   Definitely one of the best (if not the best) of PSD

Glad to be here!  It's been nothing but welcoming, site is easy to navigate, and nostalgic with seeing old friends.

Yep, very different over here. A bit of background on me is that I'm actually a Twins and Brewers (ducks tomatoes) fan. I started running a Twins website close to 20 years ago, merged with a bunch of folks to create Twins Daily, and then a few years ago, started noticing legacy communities dropping like flies. You know, kinda exactly what is happening with PSD.

Over the years, I've become pretty good at running sites (I was a web developer by trade before moving into this role) and figured "hey, maybe I can stop some of this from happening" and started applying my knowledge to other communities. Last year we bought Brewer Fanatic and earlier this year, @Tim was gracious enough to sell us NSBB (he formed the site 20 years ago and is still active 'round these parts). So now we're here!

Please encourage your PSD friends to check us out. I *hate* that these communities are dying and in their place, Reddit and Facebook and their ilk are taking the place of independent communities that play by their own rules, not the rules of a corporate behemoth out of silicon valley.

I like the Twins.  Are you familiar with Brandon Warne?  I know he covers the Twins.  He used to post with us back on PSD a while back.  He was a nice guy.  The Brewers...less so, but now I live in Lexington, KY, and there's zero Brewers representation around here (zero Reds representation when they aren't good too) so they've kind of fallen off my "I don't like this team" radar.

I actually put up the goodbye PSD post yesterday, and even before I remembered I already had an account here, had recommended NSBB as a possible new-home!  And I'll be glad to let everyone know it's a great community.  I know we're all a little sad our home's for sale but this already feels real nice and welcoming and the dedicated crew we had definitely loves bickering and talking about Cub baseball.

I do know Brandon Warne! We have a love/hate relationship with him over at Twins Daily. One of the core TD guys has been in a decades-long pissing match with Warne. It's rather silly, if you want my honest opinion about it. Both of them go at each other constantly on Twitter for reasons I cannot grasp.

Yet another reason why I use Twitter for business reasons and try to avoid it otherwise.

That is absolutely fantastic and I'm glad some things never change.  It was a surprise to me when I first saw him elevate and become kind of a big Twins thing, because to me, he was always the dude who posted on the MLB PSD forum and who I played online OOTP with.

On a Twins note; super excellent uniform update ya'll had.  I feel like teams across sports are aiming to do exactly what you did this year; create a sort of...fauxback that looks like it fits in the overall identity without feeling overly minimalistic.  Only thing I wish is that they kept the Minne and Paul logo on the sleeve (as I believe they ditched that).
