Today's was a challenge, but it was a good opportunity for a nice rarity score:

I only got 6/9, but the bottom right corner gave me the chance to play

Spoiler

Sammy Sosa

again, for a 0.2. No one ever remembers that he stole 30 bases once, so any time that's a category it's an easy pick for me.

I remember there being a story or something of him getting a necklace or vanity license plate (or possibly both) signifying that he joined the 30-30 club.

His hometown had (or has) a 30-30 Plaza named for that.

Yeah  Today I learned that Jim Palmer got 199 Ks in 1970, but never got 200

Same here.  Crazy with how many innings guys threw back then.

I think I'm getting a little bored with this game. I used to rack my brain and take a couple of hours completing each grid. Now if I get 4 or 5 and then hit some wrong answers, I don't even finish the grid

And then I get 9/9. Rarity score of 129. Probably could have spent more time thinking on this one for a lower score. Might try it again to see how low I can get my score.

Rafael Furcal

Burned me on the last square because he only got at high as .295 with Atlanta. Otherwise I was headed for a new best score.

Bad for me today, almost always get tripped on the first column, was proud of my GG choice for the Orioles - Mark Belanger.  Of course, Cal Ripken Jr. was the popular choice, thought there was a chance it might have been Brooks Robinson for that one.

so many options... i generally don't love ones that don't involve teams because i tend to overthink trying to get a low rarity score.

Got it with a score of 134 today

Spoiler

ARod/Sammy/Bonds

Ichiro/Palmeiro/Rolen

Rose/Miggy/Hank Aaron

could have gotten much lower by not using Ichiro and Rose, but went with easy ones... tried to do it again on desktop using different names and got both of those squares wrong with guesses

I....did not do well

I had 8 but screwed up because Barry Bonds never had a 200-hit season.

Shocking thing I learned on todays grid....only 3 players ever have played for the Tigers and have gotten 3000 hits

and only 4 players for Cleveland (and I guessed wrong)
