That one really bugged me. Lefty gets brought in specifically for Ohtani. There's two outs and three of the five pitches aren't even close. You've got to throw strikes there and if Ohtani beats you, oh well. But you can't walk him on 5 pitches in a situation where you're stuck with a lefty pitching to Trout right after.

It's hard to break in rookies when all the veterans are not that good either. It just magnifies any mistakes.

In a clean up role with the game out of reach, sure, just wait until Ross brings him into a high leverage situation, he'll find a bat.  Unless, of course, the above was a sarcastic quip then, yeah, he's awesome.
