6/6 - Cubs (Wesneski) vs Angels (Anderson): 8:38pm, Marquee

The Angels were my local team for close to a decade. I really enjoyed the team through the 2000s but watching their continued ineptitude through the 2010s as they wasted the elite talents of Trout and Ohtani became too much to handle anymore. But hey, they're pretty okay this season.

That probably won't last.

But they're still an interesting, dangerous team, as would any team be that gets ~15 wins out of two players every season.

Thankfully for the Cubs, they still can't develop/maintain pitching to save their lives. Tyler Anderson, journeyman who resuscitated his career with the Dodgers last season, is once again a bad pitcher now that he has moved 20 miles south to Anaheim.

This won't be an easy series but it is one the Cubs can win if they play even moderately well.

ESPN did their first all-star projections and they listed Stroman and Dansby as the 2 Cubs all-stars selected and I think thats about right...you can make a case for Steele, Smyly, maybe Nico though he doesn't have sexy looking All-Star stats but still valuable, and if NL catchers are weak I could see Gomes getting a surprise nod.

Anyways this has nothing to do with tonight's game, but wanted to post here so I get notifications when new posts are made in this thread lol.

A week ago I might have picked Steele over Stroman but alas, "forearm tightness".

Fun Trout factoid:

Coming into today Trout had a .520 OPS in 38 PA against the Cubs in his career. No other team has held Trout to an OPS under .819.

2nd and 3rd with 0 outs….already Amaya has popped up. Can’t wait to see how they blow the rest of this scoring opportunity

edit: reverse jinx worked!

Oh boy Mervis that was bad.

Potential double play grounder botched by Mervis and gets no outs.  Instead of inning over its bases loaded, 0 outs and the top of the Angels order.

Edit: upon reply, DP would have been tough but still, come on dude you need to get an out there.

If Hughes wasn't going to make any effort whatsoever to pitch to Ohtani there then just order an intentional walk and let Wesneski face Trout.

Boog calling them LA is a nice reminder that this stupid team is located in Anaheim which is a major city in its own right, it's completely stupid they get to call themselves LA, this will never not bother me

They will always be the California Angels to me.

And I'll be deep in the cold, cold ground before I recognize Missourah.
