I'm convinced that a Cubs player could lose a leg in a horrific accident and the Cubs would have him available "off the bench" the next day before putting him on the IL.  It's not a huge deal but its a bit strange how almost all injuries for the Cubs evolve this way.

Surprised it took this long. Hosmer really hasn't hit all year and Mervis getting recalled created a logjam. 

I like Rios a lot on paper but he has barely played and I wonder how he'll be used. Just to have another body for a few days until they need a pitcher?

I had a feeling they might send Keegan down to try and work out some kinks in Iowa. Hope he's not down for too long.

A little bit surprised that both Madrigal and Mastrobuoni survive that shuffling, but when you're losing a CF and a 1B there's room to do so I guess.  I understand that there's not a whole lot of playing time on offer with Morel slated to get the CF time(and the bench needs that LHH infusion), but Velazquez still is probably bummed to not be back up.

I was one of the few who liked the Hosmer signing. He was basically a no risk, no cost signing that could be cut cost free if he didn’t work out.
 

I was also assuming Mervis was going to be on the MLB roster from the jump and getting the majority of at bats at 1B or DH.  I didn’t think Hosmer would be used as an excuse by the front office to keep Mervis down on the farm.
