I really wanted Waldichuk last summer.  It looks like his Stuff+ numbers are way down on his fastball and curve YoY.  That Montas trade is looking like a wash all around.

Our new overlord stepping right into the middle of our (less so now but still) sacred game thread routine to pump off a long winning streak is really going to throw off the playoff plan.

It's important to not get too high or too low in a short stretch of games, but the Cubs historically have not done well on west coast road trips, regardless of the level of the competition. It's really nice to see them playing good baseball. This A's team is an embarrassment to major league baseball.

Catching up on last night's game and the A's are somehow worse than I thought they were.

They're on pace for 28.5 wins. I'm tempted to take the under (he says right before the A's take the last 2 of this series).

I was a bit worried that we were underrating them until I saw the Tony Kemp poster giveaway ad behind home plate.

But seriously though its baseball so anything can happen the next 2 games.

He probably won't work deep inti the game, but Miller is really good.  I'd love to win tonight and lock in that series W before we see all thia velo tomorrow

Miller's trajectory is kinda hilarious.  14 innings all of last year(28.2 IP total as a pro).  This year makes one start at AA, gets promoted, one start at AAA, gets promoted, and makes his MLB debut.  The AAA start was pretty obscene(5 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 11/0 K/BB) and Wednesday is a getaway day game after night so yeah winning today would definitely be preferred.

Fans are rightly pissed off at the franchise. The modern A's are doing a hell of a job of impersonating the St Louis Browns.

Wikipedia is amazing. So I decided to go back and check to see if the Browns were as bad as I think they were.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Louis_Browns

This is a line from the page:

"As of April 2023, there are only three living former St. Louis Browns players: Billy Hunter, Ed Mickelson, and Frank Saucier."

Someone in the world is out there updating the Wiki page for the St Louis Browns. In the past 18 days.

Just be forewarned, NSBB went through a big new transition just a couple of weeks ago but we're a GREAT place to talk Cubs. It's a moderated forum that prioritizes smart discussion over flame-throwing... but our game threads are slow right now. We're working on it but please check out the Cubs forum as well and contribute!
