Cody Whitehair also rumored to have a significant knee injury, but nothing confirmed from the Bears yet.

I'm not big on sitting Fields so he doesn't get killed. I think he needs the reps. But yeah, potentially playing him behind an OL of:

Braxton Jones- Ja'Tyre Carter- Sam Mustipher - Michael Schofield - Riley Reiff/Alex Leatherwood and with a potential WR room of:

Byron Pringle, Dante Pettis, Nsimba Webster and Velus Jones Jr is not ideal.

What's he gonna throw, maybe 10-15 passes in that weather? I'm in favor of sitting him.

Sub zero temps and a foot of snow? Just genius scheduling to give the Bears a bunch of December home games NFL.

I've made this rant multiple times. It sucks that a majority of their home games are in December/January with the team clearly tanking. Granted this is more exciting than your standard 3-11 team so there's reason to come out and watch Fields but still.

I was told that this is Bear weather.

Just for fun here is Justin Fields stats over the last 6 games projected over 17 games

4635 total yards (2833 passing, 1802 rushing)

68.1% comp %

45 TD (28 pass, 17 rush)

11 INT

7.3 Y/A

101.1 QB rating

I'm fine with him out there. He needs as many reps as possible. If he shows signs of cramping or even the slightest injury, pull him. I want them to continue to develop his passing. The better he gets with this subpar group of WRs will only get better with receivers who can actually separate.

Seems a bit more like Bills weather to me.

Lamar Jackson's MVP season (also to a 17-game pace, because only a 16-game season)

4603 total yards (3322 passing, 1281 rushing)

66.1% comp %

43 TDs (36 pass, 7 rush)

6 INT

7.8 Y/A

113.3 QB rating

Lamar with 9% of his passes going for TDs is always mindblowing to me. But just looked it up and it's been done 3 other times since the 1960s. Ken Stabler once, Aaron Rodgers has actually done it twice.

Sexy, and with no talent around him. Imagine what his numbers would look like if he were on a team like Philly, or basically any other team with NFL talent.

Our imagination is all we have, as this dumb team will never get him Philly-level talent

That's exactly what Fields will tell himself as he falls asleep every night of his inevitably shortened, doomed to be stuck behind a Bears OL NFL career.

Given the resources Poles will have in the 2023 offseason there's a real good chance Fields will soon be playing behind a line with NFL talent. While not idiot proof, Poles would have to make a deliberate attempt to horsefeathers up. I'm certain he'll miss on some moves but, I don't believe he'll miss on the majority of moves, as I said, you have to really try to horsefeathers up every move.

there's definitely hope and good reasons to be hopeful, but I am disappointed with with Poles has done FA wise to date.

At least we didn't get saddled with the Ogunjobi contract, I guess. FWIW he has a 61 overall grade this year.

That was a bad contract in the first place. He was never 13Mil good.

Feels like bizarro world, TBH. It's one thing to say nice things about an upcoming (or recent) opponent, but the way these guys are going out of their way to talk about him (and what they're saying) is something I can barely comprehend about a Bears QB.

Yeah this is crazy. I know some of this is based on likability and some of these guys probably talk to him or are friends with him. But we never heard this about Trubisky (because he wasn't good) or Cutler (because nobody liked him). I heard on ESPN this morning (I know they suck, but background noise as I work) them say that the Jets would be so much better off had they correctly drafted Fields over Wilson. It seems like the only people that haven't crowned him as the next great NFL QB are Packers and Vikings fans who are scared to death of the next several years.
