Wouldn’t have hated him at that price for a 3B/2B/COF bat, assuming this Swanson buzz is true I think I like Segura the most as a 3B add. Wisdom and Mervis, with some Bellinger can handle 1B. Then even add a Conforto other type to have some COF/3B/1B/DH rotation with those guys + Morel.

There are still good alternatives to Narvaez, but how confident should I really be that the alternative Jed is planning to go with is one of the better ones.

Would’ve been a nice add/deal for us. The RP market seems pretty light so far compared to what other positions are getting. Still lots of other intriguing guys out there who will cost that or less.

benintendi somehow got 5 years with the white sox

I think that’s a pretty solid deal, he’s only 28. Think he’s good for a 9%BB/17K% and like a .270-.290/.340-.360/.420-.440 slash line. Don’t know why happened to the power last year but he has 17, 16 and 20 HR seasons, which is plenty fine if he can get back there and keep his typical slash line/underlying stuff. Plus he makes above average contact. I think it’s fair to project him as a 2-3 win dude most years with maybe a flash for a 4+ if the power comes back/outlier defense year.

5 years at first blush is silly, but the total $75M is very reasonable. I think this is clearly a smaller scale version of the Turner/Bogaerts/Correa thing.

I meant somehow in that it's the biggest free agent contract in white sox history

Any interest once he clears waivers and not on the hook for his contract?

Edit: nevermind, I think the Padres are on the hook for his salary regardless

I definitely could see them adding him and I’d hate it. I’d prefer Belt if we add a vet LHH 1B) or Brantley as vet DH/COF and maybe some faking it at 1B vet LHH bat.

Legitimately in awe that 5/75 is the biggest deal that franchise has ever done.

Doesn't surprise me. The Bulls had also had never signed a bigger contract than 5/$75m (to Boozer) before LaVine's contact this summer. JR is a cheapass

Edit: Nevermind, Boozer was the largest FA contract. Rose signed for 5/$94. But still, I believe they were one of the only teams in the NBA to never give out a $100m contract, possibly the only team.

That’s a damn solid deal, sounds like he’s going to get starting opportunities but if that doesn’t work he’s a damn good RP and versatile weapon.

Taillon took me out on Lugo for Cubs, give me the innings and strikes on the guy who also has 94 and spin

I do like the Padres getting Lugo over the Dodgers, who seem to have missed on another player. Here I was thinking the Padres would take a step back this offseason for 2023 but they’re more loaded than last year

As a starter, I agree on Lugo and he seemingly wants to start. But as a reliever I really wanted him, he’s a major bullpen weapon and I think the best RP FA this offseason.

Now the lower tier guys are coming off the board. Wouldn't be shocked if we get a couple deals done in the next 48 hours. Conforto kinda feels like a must to get some power into the lineup. I like Mancini too. If we only get one, I kinda like a trade that lines up like Madrigal and a prospect like Bigge or Hodge for Luzardo and Joey Wendle. Adds more depth and both fit nicely though idk that Luzardo is a must with all the other depth we now have in the rotation.
