And yea tryimg to pivot to a tank makes no sense. Even if you finish bottom 3 you have a good chance of handing that pick away if you don't place in lotto.

Maybe next year they can tank.

but wembanyama won't be available then

What a horsefeathering mess. It’s amazing how huge of a difference Lonzo Ball makes.

he doesn't make THAT big of a difference. the beginning of last season was mostly a mirage where we kept winning with demar magic at the end. we'd still suck with lonzo, i think.

right, we were unsustainably good in the clutch, and that has done an almost literal 180. We also played the easiest schedule in the league in the first half and the most home games in the league in the first half. Adding to that - the Bulls had almost a completely new team. Only LaVine and Coby White were on the roster at the start of the previous season. We caught teams off guard early on but once there started to be a book written on the Bulls they became easier to solve.

All that said, I do still think Lonzo has a larger impact on the Bulls than he would on most teams due to the absence of high volume 3 point shooters on the team outside of LaVine, and the fact that the Bulls don't really have enough starter quality distributor/PG on the team. Then you add in the fact that he's one of the best on-ball defenders in the league and you realize that he solves a number of the biggest issues with the current team. Are they the best team in the East with Lonzo? Hell no. Are they safely in that 7-10 seed range with him? Probably.

Either way, signing an off injured player like Lonzo and putting almost no depth behind him is quite the decision.

Trade LaVine for picks, trade Vooch for a couple basketballs, trade Coby for whatever you can get for him, pray with everything that we land a top 4 pick, profit.

Lavine just isn’t a guy/#1 dude and shouldn’t really be given the benefit of the doubt here. He’s just an ordinary guy and maybe an horsefeathers. The team shouldn’t be deferential to him. Send his ass packing. Classic example of a guy who gets his chances to shoot 20+ times a game and average 20+ but it translates to zero winning.

You’re not wrong about some things in here, but Zach has been incredibly efficient the last several years. And I’m pretty sure he’s a good dude and a good teammate.

AKME thinking LaVine was a winning player will be on their tenure's gravestone. I have no idea why they thought he was.

Then they should, at the very least, be making play in games with the expanded playoffs if he’s that good. But he’s really like the 40th best player in the league, which is still plenty good. But he just isn’t like a top 15-20 guy like he’s talked about and expected to be.

Can I get a TLDR of the stories you’re referring to? I only see 1 Athletic paywall article and some tweets that teammates were frustrated with Zach, and they had a verbal argument within their locker room. Certainly willing to change my mind but I’ve generally liked the things he’s said and done publicly during his time with the Bulls.

Thought they were in their “window” with Vooch and Demar. I heard a lot of people saying that the Bulls had no other better options than re-signing Zach last summer. Hopefully Sunday night’s blowup leads to Zach being smarter and putting in the defensive effort. It did tonight.

Meatballing a little here, but what drives me nuts about Zach is he seemingly can be a plus defensive player if he only gave a horsefeathers. He did show some flashes last year, but that was mostly when when Lonzo and Caruso were locking up primary scorers. But he’s certainly long/athletic/strong enough to be a factor.

Incredible comeback win but one thing I noticed is that LaVine didn’t touch the ball at all in OT. So much for our max contract guy.

Oh, Grayson Allen is still a horsefeathering bitch.
