A partial list of people who were bad at football tonight

1) Kyler Gordon. I'm not even kidding when I say he singlehandedly sunk the defense. Every single chunk play was his guy.

2) Cole Kmet. Not seeing the vaunted 3rd-year TE breakout season

3) Roquan Smith. Empty tackle total, zero big plays.

4) Justin Fields. Yes, he's not got a lot to work with and not a lot of chances, but he's also making bad reads and bad throws when he does get a chance.

5) Every single WR. They're all exactly as bad as you'd expect.

6) Braxton Jones. I count 3 clean sacks in two games from his guys, and we don't even pass very often

Where is Mooney?

He's covered under point 5

Fields has a long way to go. At some point we’ll start hearing about Poles and Flus wanting to pick their own quarterback. And around we go

Yep.

Oh I know. Just saying he has what 2 catches in two games?

Maybe, Velus Jones, if he ever manages to play, might make a positive impact? No, horsefeathers that, it's the Bears and the dude' never going to play.

Guys I'm telling you the only way we can feel good about the bears is if they are crippling opposing QBs

horsefeathers offense

Fields has show more than just the occasional big play, he continues to hold on to ball, he's making bad reads, I don't care who his WR are, he's still making horsefeathers reads.

Well if you would have said after playing SF and GB after the first two weeks the Bears would be 1-1, I think we all would take it. Besides the Vikings, they have winnable games thru the end of October. So maybe they get thru week 8 at 4-4 Edited by Brian707

He looks down his receivers too often too. Kiss of death in the NFL.

What if Mike Martz is right?

Yeah the Bears need to run early and middle and late. If they want to utilize Fields as another back or key some passes off his legs fine. But there’s no universe where he isn’t pounded into the turf as a pocket passer.

It's not all on the line though, don't know what he's looking for when he just stands there with the ball.

You have to see if Fields can play and you have to give him more opportunities to find out

Cue the upcoming George McCaskey rant about losing to the Packers is unacceptable, blah, blah, blah

Screw that, I just want to see a Bears QB not play like ass against GB, just horsefeathering once.

I think the no call was a good one. Just went back and watched it.

This circled area is just an empty area. The ball was in his left arm, and you can't see the ball from beind his left arm there. He's holding the ball close to his body behind the left arm there, not outward from his body. A little bit of his left arm looks like it's across the goalie, but the ball needs to be. Maybe it did but certainly can't confirm it from that still.

My friend who is not a Bears fan said the same thing to me. I said I would have signed up for 0-2 over 1-1 if Fields actually looked good in that 0-2 start rather than mostly bad Fields and a 1-1 start. One win in a season the Bears are punting on is pointless.

I'm still not ready to completely give up on Fields because I'm a glutton for punishment, but he needs to start improving.

THAT SAID, the QB class at the top of the draft looks decent doesn't it? Stroud, Bryce Young, Levis from UK. The easy schedule might hurt our chances of getting a high enough pick to grab one though. I feel like I'm cheating on Fields by even discussing it but obviously if Fields looks like this at the end of the season we're likely breaking up with him anyways.

I agree, I didn't understand why Bears fans were flipping out over that call. It may have slightly crossed over, but no way they are changing the call with the reviews we saw IMO. Bears fans should focus their ire on lining up in shotgun for a 1 inch sneak.

I think maybe people are confused thinking the ball was in his right hand which looks kind of like fingers clasped around the point of a ball.

Really from that view Fields left hand would have to be like paper thin for the ball to have crossed. The front of his hand/forearm crossing isn't enough.

"Slightly crossed over" is a TD

That image from barstool is hardly the best look. Finding a better image is fruitless at this point, but it broke the plane

Nor am I ready to give up on Fields however, he must show real development by the end of the season. If he doesn't and the Bears are back to to trying to find a QB in the draft I'd stay away from guys like Stroud and Young they, like Fields was, are surrounded by overwhelming talent. Draft a QB who succeeded without a multitude of first rounds picks around him.

And then a segment of Bears Twitter then went into a predictable tailspin about refs highlighting any missed hold or false start they could find.

I thought the refs called a decent game except for the flag they inexplicitly picked up on a clear hold, with little explanation. But that had zero impact since it was a sack anyways.

The point is that it was called short on the field and replay rules have always been “clear and obvious evidence needed to overturn”. Based on the reviews I saw, I don’t think it’s clear and obvious at all.
