I went to the game last night and while I fully acknowledge that it's better for them to lose, that was a fun game to be at. Got tickets 6 rows back behind the visitor penalty box.

Hawks are now 3 points behind Columbus for worst record. I didn't realize this but the difference between finishing with the worst record and second worst record is huge in terms of odds of #1 overall.

 

Worst team has 25.5% odds

2nd worst team has 13.5% odds

 

If the Blackhawks can just suck a little harder they will have 12% better odds of Bedard. Regardless of your views on tanking, if you are gonna tank and are in mid-March of an already lost season, tank your ass off

 

Also, worst overall record can't drop below #3 in the lottery

Unfortunately it's a two deep draft, at least in terms of franchise altering picks. But does also give them a slightly better shot at the second pick too.

Watching the devils play tampa and seeing Hagel flying around just reminds me of a point about this unique tank job people seemingly ignored when arguing it’s just like Detroit or some other teams. They traded away 3 very young foundational pieces in 4 months, not just for the returns they got, but to encourage Toews and Kane to request trades, which obviously didn’t work out.

 

They didn’t just trade off expensive old guys in this tank. They traded young cheap players.

 

And the tank ain’t doing so hot either with them winning 2-0 late. It’s going to last 5+ years. On the plus side we might lose another Wirtz by then.

This organization has done more than any other to maybe actually finally get me to be a fan of one of my local teams I’ve lived near for almost 30 years. It helps that my daughters like them but I’m going to my 6th devils game of the year this week and may look for playoff tickets. 
 

blackhawks caving on the pride night jersey was a seriously messed up move  after a series of unprecedented screwing up of their fan relations. They’ve traded/given away so many  young players in recent years and are so far from ever competing again. They deserve to have the lottery go against them. Maybe be forced to draft the Russian guy and have him never come to the states. Start playing your better prospects next year and finish strong enough to draft 7 or 8 and never get a chance to bring in a stud. Then you’ve got to give away the guys you drafted last year by 2026 so you can hope to reload in time for the 2030 draft.
