Not bad for Buck. Almost certainly getting a raise and instead of doing a Thursday and Sunday game plus playoffs and occasional Super Bowl he just does 1 Monday broadcast a week through the Wild Card round.

Is he still under contract for baseball with FOX or is that over too?

That's done.

Joe Davis does a really nice job as Fox's #2 baseball guy, I'm sure he'll just get bumped up. The NFL spot is the interesting one.

I really like the Kevin Burkhardt Greg Olsen duo. To me this is a win win because Buck/Aikman upgrade the ESPN booth and those two presumably get more prominent games.

I hope Joe Davis doesn't have to partner with Smoltz.

I’m kinda shocked that Fox let him out of his contract

I don’t know why networks pay these guys. Nobody is tuning in for broadcasters.

Umm, well, that's exactly why they pay them, they're desperate

I didn't think I'd disagree with this, but while nobody is tuning in for broadcasters, bad ones can make me more likely to tune out on a national game.

i liked gruden's meathead/meatball excited schtick. it was entertaining, if nothing else. watched random MNF more often when he was on than when that awful crew tessitore, witten, booger crew was on.

while i hate to admit it, i liked the miller/morgan booth...the sound of it moreso than the content. maybe that's nostalgia, but i know that i enjoyed that broadcast more than i do this awful arod booth, and as such i was more likely to watch non-cubs sunday night baseball games back then.

same goes for SNF with madden and michaels over other national booths (including the current NBC SNF one).

if it's my team, i don't care if dick stockton is on with arod and mccarver. i'm watching. but with random matchups, i guess it does make a difference for me.

Sounds like you liked watching all sports more when you were young and now that you’re turning human I mean older you’ve got other interests that keep you from wasting countless hours watching games that have no interest for you.

i figured that would be the response, but nah. and the gruden switch wasn't that long ago.

i still spend way too much time watching sports.

if you put like buck and, say, romo on MNF, i'm probably watching at least a couple more MNF games intently. definitely as compared to that awful 2018 booth i mentioned. that one was bad enough to get me to only tune in for bears games.

it's not that the good guys being good brings me in. the weirdos like arod push me away. ironically, espn still strangely thinks arod has value for some reason. arod actively has made me avoid watching SNB.

i also think someone like manning would probably increase viewership at least somewhat, given the response to the manningcast.
