So apparently Roquan Smith may have raped a 14 or 15-year old girl from South Africa (in Cape Cod) like 4-5 years ago. Apparently, this woman (now 18) has posted some TikToks crying and talking about how she doesn't trust anybody and also pictures with him and text messages sent to him, under a couple different accounts.

Bears Twitter is handling how you'd expect. And again, Sulley is the voice of reason in this whole thing.

fuuuuuuuck. put him on leave/suspend him immediately pending investigation and cut him if there's any truth to this.

So now apparently the story is it happened this year, in South Africa. Supposedly a rape kit was done as well. The woman keeps posting things on TikTok accounts that keep getting deleted. I've seen a couple screenshots, but now they aren't really available.

FWIW, looks like Roquan has gone private on Twitter. And the accounts the woman keeps creating all seem to have sexually explicit names. The original was "monsterqueef_".

should have drafted mlb in the 2nd

horsefeathers

this sucks for the bears but football isn't of primary importance here. I hope its not true but the Bears/NFL need to investigate and take appropriate action if this is shown to be true

Maybe I'm naive, but my assumption is most any NFLer could get an adult woman to horsefeathers them without resorting to extreme measures. Why someone like Roquan would risk $100 million or so is crazy

Hopefully Roquan is innocent for his and the Bears' sakes

Yes, this is an extremely naive take. Rape is not about sex.

Rape is about demonstrating power, a trait we encourage and prize in football players. Which is probably why football players being rapist is fairly common:

One thing I will say about these Roquan Smith allegations..... It's kind of fishy that the 2 accounts I know of that have said he did these things on tiktok were @monsterqueef_ and @flickmybean. I feel like if I was publicly going after someone for sexual assault/rape, I'd probably not do it from an @ name that could be used against my credibility. Then if that original account got deleted, I probably wouldn't then create a new account that is also sexually explicit. But if that is her and that is legit, it clearly doesn't excuse anything Roquan may have done to her nor should it affect her credibility.

I'm not a fan of "If this were me, this is how I would have behaved..." takes from men who, by virtue of being men, have fundamentally different life experiences and of course would behave differently.

Yeah, I apologize. I realize in trying to point out "this is why someone would think it's fake" I portrayed it as I think it could be fake and made it about me fitting in shoes I certainly could never fit in. I definitely didn't want to be "that guy". Basically the same as the people who are like, "well why didn't she go to the police?"

Yup. The same goes for someone like Steve Wynn. Incredibly wealthy. Was as important as anyone in Las Vegas. He could have easily paid someone willing (especially in Nevada) to perform sex acts on him if that's what he wanted, but instead he pressured his employees to do it, and it's hard to argue that it would have been for anything other than for that same reason (displaying power).

It has nothing to do with the sex or the ability to get it consensually. Louis CK's fucked up stuff too. The list of rich and powerful men who have done this sort of thing is practically endless and beyond well documented at this point.

We can sit here and try to apply logic to these situations like "well i can't imagine why he would do that in his position" but it's pointless because these dudes are sociopathic monsters.

Hicks is signing with Tampa

Good for him, go chase that ring! Tampa is a team that could definitely benefit from Hicks but also not be doomed when he gets injured as he tends to do.

Hicks and Vita Vea in the middle. LMAO! The most athletic 700lbs of man could ever get. They also got William Gholston and drafted Logan Hall. At this point, I'm just hoping Hicks stays healthy to actually play in the Superbowl they almost certainly will get to.

Former Bear Marion Barber found dead in his apartment earlier today. No cause of death was released. He had some mental problems late in life, maybe CTE related.

I hate that there is one moment that I immediately think of whenever I think of Marion Barber. In reality he was an absolute beast at Minnesota and the Cowboys, and despite obvious issues at the end of his life he led humanitarian efforts off the field based on what I've read about him. Definitely gone way too soon.
