I've never had the cake shake

It can be hard to finish, both because of the sheer richness and also because your straw starts clogging once the cake:shake ratio gets too high, but it's incredibly delicious.

I think the obvious argument is to just get a slice* of cake with a side of shake. Bite then sip. Repeat. Can even mix it up with vanilla shake then.

*or the whole cake. Get the whole cake.

My bro-in-law will go get the full cake through the drive through for his son's bday cakes and they apparently frequently act amused and I'm thinking he can't be the only person rolling up to the drive through getting a whole cake.

Maybe it depends on how much other stuff you order? Like they obviously expect it with catering. But I've definitely had it at family or friend functions where the rest of the food was not Portillos, so is it really that rare for people to get like just a cake or dinner for one plus a cake?

also, not a big fan of the cake shake. the clogged straw thing is obnoxious.

to me, the must order item is a beef (not that it's one of the best ones around, but it's fine).

Another hard pass for me, nope, nope, nope, I'm good with Daboll, Flores, Caldwell even McDaniels, Frazier would be a typical Bear mistake.

He’s got to be a favorite for the job now, I keep seeing nuggets to that effect and it makes sense to me just from a Bears MO standpoint.

I guess best case is Lovie Mach 2? I’d be very interested in whether he comes to the interview with a plan for OC or if it’s just “your defenses are awesome, we are the Bears, we love defense,” yada yada.

I’m with you, it feels like typical Bears wrong-headed thinking to me.

If they choose a defensive oriented HC, they have to nail it on the OC. I don't think it is necessarily a bad choice to go with Frazier but it makes the second decision even more important.

I think Frazier has a chance to be an okay rebound coach in his second stint as a head coach, but there are a lot of drawbacks. Obviously there is the fact that he's a defensive coach. But he's also 62 and will be 63 before the draft. That's not terribly old for an entrenched/established head coach, but as far as I can tell it's considerably older than any other coordinator they are looking at. It's 4 years older than both big splash candidates, Payton and Harbaugh. It would almost assuredly be his last job in the league. I do not see it ending well. His best season in Minnesota was 10-6. They were average on both offense and defense. They had Christian Ponder at QB and ran Adrian Peterson 350 times. Ponder was a 1st round QB who flamed out quickly, and they lost double digit games in 2 of his 3 seasons. Nagy has a more impressive head coaching resume than Frazier.

His offensive coordinator was Bill Musgrave, who is now out of the NFL, coaching at Cal. Same with the QB coach, who is at Maryland. The assistant QB coach is now head coach of the Browns. I have huge doubts about his ability to bring together a quality offensive staff. My guess is it will be an older staff and they will be a dumbass run the ball team. Montgomery will be run into the ground next season and unable to fulfill his next contract, which will be signed because they have no other offensive weapons.

I really doubt Frazier is going to happen. This is how it would probably play out if it did, but I see it as more of an irrational worry for me. I won't rest easy until someone else is hired, because Bears, but looking at it objectively, I just don't think he'll come out ahead given this candidate pool and (as you pointed out) how he compares to almost everyone else.

I’ve always thought of Frazier as someone who was going to be in it until the end. I don’t remember if it was the Tribune or Athletic that had an article about him recently where Dungy was really praising him. Frazier was on Dungy’s staff with the Colts. We know who hired Dungy. Plus there is his Bears connection. Polian is also why I feel Caldwell is a serious candidate. Polian has already hired him to be a head coach once before. It will be Frazier as head coach and Caldwell as OC. That’s not what I want, but that’s what my gut keeps telling me.

I hate Frazier simply because the team he coached is responsible for every bad thing that's happened to the Bears over the last 8 years.

If the Vikings don't beat the Packers in Week 17 of 2012, Lovie likely isn't fired, Trestman isn't fired, etc etc etc. Sure Emery probably kicks Lovie out the first chance he gets but we probably(?) don't end up with Trestman if we're looking 1-2 years later.

Frazier and Caldwell together are 130 years old. You'd almost have to keep Desai on staff just to keep the line of succession in line with the actuarial tables.

Yea definitely want more than a rebound coach.

Now guys are coaching into their 70s, so maybe he can be a 8-10 year coach, but this isn't like the Fox hiring where the locker room was a mess and there was a need for a stabilizing prescense even if it was likely to be a short run.

I think he's perfectly cromulent, but entirely uninspiring. Nagy was actually decent at the head coaching portion of the job. Lovie was the best at getting the most out of the team, but Nagy was right behind him in terms of having his team ready to compete every week. What he sucked at was making his side of the ball work. That and the stupid penalties and time related decisions. Frazier can probably be counted on to make his side of the ball work, but is that really a concern with the Bears? They've vacillated between great and fine, and occasionally dip into below average territory. But by and large, they've kept teams in the game for the better part of two decades. Frazier probably helps this defense improve, but what in his track record suggests he can inspire greatness for the overall team?

I'm going to take back my tepid "Frazier might not be so bad" post due to his age. I had no idea he was that old. The Bears don't need a head coach that old.

Yeah I think he's a solid enough candidate who's just a weird fit for the Bears right now. Being older isn't by itself bad. Having been meh his last go around isn't by itself bad. Ditto being a defense first guy. But all three together makes him not really fit into where the Bears are in their cycle.

Ironically he'd probably be a very good fit for a team like the Vikings.

It just seems so obvious to me that Daboll should be the guy. Unlike Nagy, he actually ran the offense in Buffalo. He has an offensive scheme that has proven to work. We have a competent defensive coordinator already in Desai. I feel like Frazier is the Jake Arrieta move. It's just bringing back a guy from the good old times to give people nostalgia rather than putting the best option in place.

Nostalgia, when probably like half the fan base isn't old enough to really remember his playing days.
